New ‘Jessica Jones’ Trailer Highlights David Tennant’s Purple Man

Jessica Jones' Kilgrave

In the world of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, there are few bad guys more dangerous or more damaging than that of Kilgrave aka The Purple Man. In the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming Netflix series, we get just a small piece of just who Kilgrave is and get a taste of what leaves Jessica so scarred and damaged to this day. The entire show, the entire comic series, is built around the horrors of the Purple Man. Quite a bit off from the heroic Doctor Who days of David Tennant if this trailer is any proof. Be sure to check out the video here below.

It’s just a short trailer, but we see Jessica piecing together photos on a bulletin board in her Alias Investigations office. We hear Tennant’s Kilgrave talking in a creepy low voice as she works. Unlike Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, which was more indirect with Daredevil, here it seems that Kilgrave is enjoying being a tormenting voice in Jessica’s head. He revels in continuing to torture Jones. With the Kingpin, the series excelled at fleshing out not only Daredevil, but also giving a human side to Wilson Fisk. You could almost feel empathy for him and his story. I suspect that people will be surprised at just how evil and twisted The Purple Man is. I can’t imagine at the end of the epic binge watching that is bound to happen that we will be saying the same thing of Kilgrave that some have said of Kingpin. Especially given the talent of Tennant, who will no doubt revel in this part. Actors love playing villains, and if this preview is any testament to that, I suspect the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have a new villain beyond any we’ve seen so far.

Jessica Jones is the story of a superhero turned private investigator residing in Hell’s Kitchen, NY. After a traumatic event, Jones is left with PTSD symptoms and has left her super-powered heroine days behind her. The series premieres in November 20, 2015 on Netflix with all 13 episodes available for binge-watching through the Thanksgiving holiday.
