The stars of FOX’s hit TV series Gotham gathered together today for the Warner Bros. Television panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, where Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, revealed who has been cast as his character’s father.
Paul Reubens of Pee-Wee Herman fame, will star as The Penguin’s father, Tucker Cobblepot.
When breaking the big news to the audience at NYCC, Taylor shouted “Pee-Wee Herman is playing my Dad!”
This won’t be Reubens’ first foray into the Batman universe, or even into this particular role. Reubens brought the Penguin’s father to life in Tim Burton’s 1992 film, Batman Returns. (Burton had previously directed the actor in his 1985 film Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, which brought Reubens’ famed character from the playhouse to the big screen.) The 63-year-old Reubens also voiced Bat-Mite a 2009 episode of the animated series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Paul Reubens will make his debut on Gotham during Season 2, which is currently underway. Episode 2.4, “Strike Force,” airs on Monday, October 12, 2015, and sees the addition of Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathaniel Barnes. Check back soon at Geeks Of Doom for our full review.
We’ll also have more from the Gotham portion of event (UPDATE – here’s our coverage of the Gotham panel, as well as the other shows covered in the WB TV panel, soon.
