‘Jurassic World’ Re-Imagined As 1970’s Star-Studded Disaster Movie (Video)

BAADASSSSS!   |

Jurassic World Chris Pratt

Late last year, an intrepid YouTube user going by the handle ChiefBrodyRules (yes, yes, he certainly does) created a fan trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the manner of a VHS sneak preview for a 1980’s Cannon Films B-action flick, and it was undeniably awesome.

The Chief’s latest triumph of imagination, ingenuity, and clever video editing skills re-imagines this past summer’s biggest global blockbuster, Jurassic World, as the sort of star-packed, high-concept disaster movie the late Irwin Allen pioneered, with more than a reasonable helping of dark science-fiction.

You can watch it here below.

Here’s what the Chief himself had to say about his latest editing project:

“Huge fan of the Jurassic Park series. I loved Jurassic World. It reminded me of 70s disaster movies and I thought I would try to do a “What if Jurassic World was made in the 70’s?” video. I thought it would be easy but it’s taken 17 weeks to make this video. LOL It was difficult, but I had a lot of fun making it.”

The cast for the Chief’s latest bit of fake trailer goodness includes Michael Caine (as head of security who has foreseen the downfall of the park), Raquel Welch (as the Mosasaurus handler that falls in love with Michael Caine), Richard Pryor (as a guest who helps Michael Caine to get the people out of the park), and Ben-Hur himself, Charlton Heston (as the scientist who brought back the dinosaurs and second in command at the park).

Being the eagle-eyed lover of film that I am, I managed to spot clips (and music) from Jaws, Jaws 3-D, Logan’s Run, Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend, Mountain of the Cannibal God (I think), Westworld, and The Island, as well as music composed by John Carpenter for Escape from New York. I’m sure you can have loads of fun spotting scenes lifted from other movies of the genre. (The YouTube page has a list of all the movies included.)

Universal Studios Home Entertainment brings the thrills and chills of Jurassic World to your home on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD beginning next Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
