BAADASSSSS!   |

Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Marvel Studios’ surprisingly successful Phase Two wrap-up Ant-Man would be making its way to home video on December 8, this morning comes the news that the studio will be releasing the massive Blu-ray box set Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two the very same day, but it will only be available through Amazon.

Check out a full list of special features here below.

The 13-disc set will include Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and Digital Copy editions of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man, as well as an exclusive bonus disc containing 166 minutes of bonus material.

The entire collection will come in collectible orb packaging designed by artist Mark Ferguson and, according to the official press release, comes complete with “stunning Marvel memorabilia, including a gold-foiled page from the book of Dark Elves, an ancient drawing from the Morag vault, Avengers and S.T.R.I.K.E. uniform patches, a replica of the Tony Stark tattoo from Iron Man 3 and much more!”

– Marvel’s Iron Man 3 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
– Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
– Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
– Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)

– Marvel’s Ant-Man (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)

– PLUS an Exclusive Bonus Content Disc with 166 minutes of bonus material and more!

Here’s a breakdown of the bonus disc’s special added content:

From Here To Infinity: Phases 2 & 3 Of The M.C.U.
Journey back through Marvel’s Phase 2 films, from its launch in Iron Man 3 through its fulfillment in Ant-Man, to see how individual characters grow and change, how their relationships with each other evolve over time, and how the universe itself expands with each story. Listen to filmmakers discuss the first set of Phase 3 films– Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – and discover there are no limits to the adventure!

This would be a great collection to own if you haven’t purchased any of the individual Phase Two Blu-ray releases yet. What really burns me up about this announcement is that the content on that bonus disc is comprised of special features purposefully withheld from being released with those single discs. I know why it was done, to make this set appear to be worth double-dipping for the hardcore Marvel movie fans, but it bothers me nonetheless.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Blu-ray collection will be available exclusively through Amazon on December 8, 2015. You can pre-order it here now.
