Pixar has a history of making awesome movies for kids that are in NO WAY movies for kids. Take Toy Story 3. It’s a movie about human boy Andy’s lovable toys, like Woody and Buzz and Slinky the dog”¦ except there’s a homicidal “Governor from Walking Dead” style villain toy and an ending that sees our cute toy heroes accept their demise in an incinerator! Or WALL-E, a movie with a charming robot, and adorable cockroach; which was really hammering home to the parents in the audience the dangers of laziness, waste, and pollution. Let’s not even get into Up, a movie that literally reached in and yanked the tears out by the gallon”¦ unless you were a kid laughing at the talking dog”¦ “SQUIRREL!!!”
With these in mind, the gang at ScreenJunkies debuted their latest Honest Trailer this week, for the latest Disney/Pixar film guaranteed to go over the heads of children everywhere while forcing their parents into odd conversations after”¦ Inside Out.
Watch the Honest Trailer here below.
Narrator Jon Bailey acknowledges right away the penchant for Pixar to have the adult/child duality. In many ways, it’s why the Pixar films are higher-order filmmaking. The movie teaches kids they aren’t responsible for their actions because there are cute single-colored people living in their heads pushing their brain buttons, you know”¦ schizophrenia. Watch as young Riley gets all messed up because her two emotions Joy and Sadness can’t get along and are pulling her to extremes”¦ you know”¦ bipolar. Also the writers must have had something horrible to them done in San Francisco as they make it seem like the gloomiest place in Gloomsville.
The best line in the HT is Bailey describing Riley being stuck with Disgust, Fear, and Anger as the worst parts of any online comments section”¦ HAHA. You’ll see the actual embodiment of emotions suddenly learn new emotions, and follow Joy and Sadness on a journey through Riley’s brain that is very colorful for kids, but so confusing that adults will have trouble understanding. And let’s not get into Bing Bong, who”¦ dammit Pixar! Now I’m crying again!
Starring”¦ Short Haired Marge Simpson and BALLS (in reference to all the spherical memories in Riley’s head). NOT Starring: all these other important emotions that were deemed unnecessary like, Empathy, Reason, Envy, Courage, Boredom, Lust, Love, etc…. New Title – The Feels.
