There’s some new Star Wars and Star Trek selections, along with upcoming releases from China Miéville, Brandon Sanderson, Stan Lee, and many more.

See below for our picks in Winter 2016 Science Fiction and Fantasy Books To Read.

Eleanor: A Novel cover

Hardcover | Kindle
Written by Jason Gurley
Crown Publishing
Release date: January 12, 2016

Eleanor, a twin whose sister is ripped from her through death, subsequently grows up in a family of sorrow and rage. Then strange things starts to happen. Doorways pull Eleanor to other worlds and back again, losing time when she returns. The story is compellingly tragic – its characters all lost from loss, anger erupting from a seemingly endless reservoir. And in between is a supernatural rift of nothing which may hold the key to soothing all the hurt. Eleanor travels to this nothing and to dream realms as well, as she finds meaning and purpose to it all. Jason Gurley‘s Eleanor: A Novel is a definite page turner, filled with the unexpected.

The horror! That’s why noone believes Yulric is a vampire. He’s way too “unattractive.” Yulric is determined to bring back the ugly. He and his ragtag crew he manages to scrape up, prepare to battle the pretty undead, and put the “monster” back in vampire. Jim McDoniel’s first novel is quirky, wild, and weird, and definitely for those who hate those “sexy” vampire stereotypes – who like their monsters nice and gross.
