Netflix has released a trailer for Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, the upcoming Pee-wee Herman special featuring the seemingly ageless Paul Reubens once again donning the short-legged grey suit and red bowtie.
The trailer is brief but fun, including some of Pee-wee’s wacky contraptions. It also reveals the release date for the special, so fans can get it marked off on their calendar. Hint: it will be arriving on the same day as Daredevil season two, so it should be a great geeky binge day for some with two drastically different things to watch.

SYNOPSIS:
The new film stars the beloved fun-loving hero of TV, stage and film, ME!! In Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires me to take my first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny. The film stars me (!), Joe Manganiello (True Blood, Magic Mike XXL), Jessica Pohly (Stalker), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and was directed by John Lee (Wonder Showzen, The Heart She Holler). Paul Reubens and Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Arrested Development) wrote the film, that was produced by Reubens and Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, Bridesmaids).
Reubens first appeared as Pee-wee in 1981 for the TV movie The Pee-wee Herman Show, and has since appeared as the character numerous times including in the movies Pee-wee’s Big Adventure in 1985 and Big Top Pee-wee in 1988, and in 45 episodes of Pee-wee’s Playhouse from 1986 to 1990. He’s also appeared in many non-Pee-wee roles including in Flight of the Navigator, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mystery Men, Blow, and recently on The Blacklist, just to name a few.
Before Pee-wee’s Big Holiday is released to the masses on Netflix, it will have a premiere screening at the SXSW Film Festival in March.
