This week’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine takes us out to sea, as Jake and Amy (Andy Samberg and Melissa Fumero) are off on a cruise. And Doug Judy aka The Pontiac Bandit (guest star Craig Robinson) is the pianist on the ship. Back at home, Holt’s sister, “Hurricane” Debbie (Andre Braugher and guest star Niecy Nash) is coming for a visit and she’s very dramatic.
Spoilers below.
Doug Judy doesn’t seem surprised to see Jake. Turns out he sent for Jake because he is in “peril.” He thinks someone is trying to kill him. So…
Doug Judy: “I sent for my best friend.”
They try to arrest him, but no jurisdiction. The ship’s captain said he won’t. Jake doesn’t believe in this fake assassin. Doug Judy tries to talk to Jake about Amy.
Jake: “I don’t need relationship advice from my criminal archnemesis.” Oh Peralta, I really think you do.
The assassin is real and so are the subsequent shenanigans.
On the 2nd front, Holt is really upset about his sister’s drama and impending 6-week stay.
Terry (Terry Crews) to Holt: “Once I used an exclamation point in an email. You called me Diana Ross.” I literally (okay figuratively) died right then. These writers are stellar.
Holt: “You found me… drinking seltzer in the shadows.”
Gina’s advice is to fight drama with drama. For example…
Terry runs in: “There’s been a jailbreak and the mafia’s at it again.” Ahahahaha!! So good!
When Holt turns on his drama the result is surprising. And…
Aw…. The feels! Holt made his sister a fort in his office!
The tiny other side plot is that Rosa and Boyle (Stephanie Beatriz and Joe Lo Truglio) are applying for the same apartment, discovered when the tenant died. They both try to butter the guy up. You will be surprised at who he chose and the result of that.
So what do you think?
Who gets the apartment?
Do you think Peralta gets his man?
Here’s what I will tell you…
There are more feels! Jake and Amy tell each other they love each other… thanks to Doug Judy’s advice.
And Rosa really put herself out there.
This episode was so satisfying. Craig Robinson and Niecy Nash were so awesome. They fit right in with this beautiful cast. Another winner of an episode. Gina was exquisite as usual. Partnering with Terry brings out the greatness in her. Holt’s humor might be the funniest I’ve seen in a long time. And Amy, who is usually my least favorite of the characters, is growing on me.
