Apparently, Deadpool always wanted to be an athlete, but not for the reasons you’d expect, as we learn in the newly released Super Bowl spot for Deadpool, FOX’s upcoming Marvel movie starring Ryan Reynolds as the title Merc With A Mouth.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Directed by Tim Miller, and starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, hits theaters everywhere February 12, 2016, including IMAX 3D.
