The second half of Gotham‘s season 2 promises to be better than the first. How that is possible when we had such titillating characters as Jerome, born-to-be-bad Barbara, and Theo Galavan (Cameron Monaghan, Erin Richards, and James Frain), I’m not sure, but already the news flying out of our dark and dingy city is exciting. There’s a first look at Dr. Hugo Strange (BD Wong), as well as a new trailer that shows him and Mr. Freeze.

We knew nefarious “medicine” was happening in the bowels of Arkham. When Firefly was wheeled down the halls at the end of episode 2.6 “By Fire,”, a zoom-in of a sign that said, “Indian Hill: A Division of Wayne Enterprises.” was shown, along with other inmates. Jim (Ben McKenzie) said she wasn’t going to make it, but there she was. And Dr. Strange is the man in charge – “Troubled times.”

The trailer is pretty awesome. Lots of frozen people – “You think guns can stop me?” Nathan Darrow is a welcome addition to the cast of villains as Victor Fries aka Mr. Freeze. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) is in Arkham (uh-oh), and we catch a glimpse of the back of a woman in a tank with red and black hair. Who could she be?

Gotham season 2 returns Monday, February 29th at 8:00pm ET on FOX.

The origin story continues on GOTHAM: RISE OF THE VILLAINS and the stakes are higher than ever, as Super Villains more ambitious and depraved are introduced, and a realignment of alliances shakes up the fight for power in Gotham City.

Detective JIM GORDON (Ben McKenzie) and the ethically questionable veteran Detective HARVEY BULLOCK (Donal Logue) remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in this dangerously corrupt city. While confronting Gotham’s most notorious criminals, Gordon’s moral compass begins to waver. But he is taken under the wing of NATHANIEL BARNES (Michael Chiklis), a law-and-order zealot who is unafraid of making enemies.
