Beat Bugs Netiflix

Netflix has added an exciting new series to its ever expanding repertoire. A new musical animated series, Beat Bugs, brings Beatles music to the young. On top of that already, the songs will be sung by various artists including Eddie Vedder, Pink, and Chris Cornell.

More below.

The show is about 5 bug friends who live in a backyard and get into fun-loving trouble. The animation looks appealing for the little ones, while the songs will appeal to the big ones.

The trailer music is Eddie Vedder’s rendition of “Magical Mystery Tour.” Also flashing in the trailer are some examples of who is singing what of the 50+ songs in the series catalog. I am actually looking forward to hearing Sia’s version of Blackbird (one of my faves), and Chris Cornell singing “Drive My Car.” Deadline reports some of the other songs to be used will include: “Help!,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Come Together,” “Penny Lane,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds,” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”

Andy Yeatman, director of original kids content at Netflix said in a statement,

“It’s a rare occasion to be presented with a truly one-of-a-kind children’s show that is so
perfectly suited to Netflix. Josh and his team have not only developed a compelling children’s show filled with life lessons, but they’ve built a show that will transcend generations and have parents and grandparents enjoying right alongside their little ones.”

I am definitely looking forward to this. It’s a way to get my 5-year old immersed in Beatles music in a way that appeals to her.

Beat Bugs swarms in this summer, August 2016.
