Buh duh duh duh duhhhhhh duh duh… if you grew up in the 90s you know you have the X-Men: The Animated Series opening theme stuck in your head. As expected, with X-Men: Apocalypse due out in theaters this week, the gang at Screen Junkies went back to one of the greatest animated shows of all time and gave the ’90s classics X-Men series the Honest Trailer treatment. This was legitimately my favorite show growing up, and I was so excited a few years back to get the entire series on DVD at a horror convention. So journey back to the time of super soakers and pizza bagels, when no one cared about the Avengers and enjoy the latest Honest Trailer.

If you like the movies, you’ll love the series; with more yellow costumes, more sexy Rogue-goodness, and for some reason… more Jubilee. Narrator Jon Bailey really pours it on, calling her a “Mallrat with the power of sparkles,” which got a legit LOL from me upon first viewing. Watch as the series does justice to all the classic comic story arcs like the Phoenix Saga, which blows away the unfortunate mess that was X3: The Last Stand, and Days of Future Past, which was in my opinion was way better in the animated series. The movie was great, but seriously watch the damn cartoon. And let’s not even compare the Weapon X storyline to the abomination that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

And watch as the X-Men go to battle against social injustice and prejudice with a cast of overtly stereotypical characters like Rogue (Southerner), Gambit (Cajun), Nightcrawler (German), and Colossus (Russian). But it’s okay because behind the epic Batman animated series, this is the best comic book cartoon ever!
