After sharing a new poster, the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them held their panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 today. The cast and crew were on hand to discuss the movie and also share a new trailer.
Continue below for some of the highlights and to watch the trailer!
We’re currently in Hall H for all of today’s panels, so keep it at Geeks Of Doom as we bring you news all day from SDCC.
The panel consisted of director David Yates and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Colin Farrell.
The movie features new characters and new rules and it takes the franchise in a new direction in a new way. Yates described the new creatures and, for spelling sake, we will skip the names. But their looks range from serpents to apes.
Eddie Redmayne was clearly excited, and the actor actually shared Newt’s magic wand with everyone who was in Hall H. In fact, he went off stage handing them out to the crowd from one end of the room to the other end.
Sudol was existed to be a part of the American version of Harry Potter which takes place during the 1920s. Miller compared it to getting your Hogwarts letter very very late, but still getting it.
Fogler, who was sore that he didn’t get a wand, was still happy to compare his non-magic character to Star Wars legend Han Solo, who wasn’t a Jedi.
Fogler and Farrell got giddy talking about the costume design praising Colleen Atwood’s hard work. Miller called it next level. Everything was hand crafted so you never feel like it was modern, but more like it was from another world. Farrell joked that she made period underwear and Miller chimed that he stole some.
Here’s the trailer, which really needs no description.
