Ben Wheatley has certainly been making a name for himself in the past few years. For those who may not know who he is, the filmmaker has previously directed Down Terrace and High-Rise. The latter, which starred Tom Hiddleston, was released earlier this year.
And now a trailer for his latest feature, Free Fire, starring Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, and Sharlto Copley has finally arrived. Check out the trailer below. Oh, and it is a red band NSFW kind of trailer.
The trailer first appeared on the A24 YouTube Page, and judging by the look of the trailer, it is the kind of film the distributor would most likely release. Free Fire made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival this week, and has received rave reviews. And it is easy to see why the movie may have gotten it thanks in part to the casting and the fact that Martin Scorsese is on board as an executive producer. The film is a cool shoot ’em up film that takes place in the ’70s where two parties meet up in a warehouse in order to purchase arms. But a disagreement turns into a full-on shootout between the two where everyone seems to have turned on each other or make alliances with the opposing party.
With no one to really root for it’s going to be a lot of fun to see who makes out of the grisly situation alive.
Jack Reynor (Sing Street), Michael Smiley (The World’s End, The Lobster), Sam Riley (Maleficent, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Noah Taylor, (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edge of Tomorrow), and Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones) also star.
The film has no official release date yet, but it will open in UK theaters March 2017, so we can expect to see an American release a little bit after, hopefully before if we are lucky. There is no official plot synopsis either, but looking at the trailer, I don’t think you’ll need one.
