Lionsgate and Summit have released the final trailer for Damien Chazelle‘s La La Land. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, the film centers on Mia (Emma Stone), a struggling actress who can’t seem to land a gig, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a down and out pianist with dreams of owning his own jazz club.
Check out the trailer below.
La La Land has already been making the rounds at various film festivals, and has been unanimously praised by critics who have seen it. Some are calling it the best film of the year, while others believe it is a shoe-in for some Oscar nominations.
The first two trailers were taken from the perspective of the film’s leads, Mia and Sebastian, with each on displaying their musical talents. Gosling sang the jazzy “City Of Stars” in the first trailer, while Stone sang the melancholy “Audition” in her trailer. But even with those two trailers echoing Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, this latest trailer puts the plot in the spotlight, and gives us the minor details of Mia and Sebastian’s relationship, showing once again why these two are perhaps the best onscreen pair you will ever see in a movie. There are also a few more teases of the other musical numbers you will see in the film, which look vibrant, colorful, and flat out exciting. It’s no wonder why this film is being considered one of the best movies of the year.
J.K. Simmons, John Legend, and Rosemarie DeWitt also star.
La La Land opens in theaters on December 9th, 2016
