Paramount Pictures has released the second trailer for Chris Wedge‘s Monster Truck. And it is exactly like it sounds. It’s a monster in a truck. If that doesn’t sound special or like something that might appeal to you, then you should know that this is one of the films that Paramount predicts they will lose money on. But maybe, just maybe, this is something that will surprise us all. But judging by the way it looks, don’t be surprised if you hear a lot of negative things about it.
Take a look at the trailer here below.
Of course, there has to be movies for kids, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But the film seems to be a bit condescending to their intelligence. Pixar, WB, and other studios have been giving kid-friendly animated films that deal with some mature themes. So it is a bit surprising that a film like this would be coming out. But then again, the cast may give us some hope that the film could be tolerable. Lucas Till stars as Tripp, the high school student who happens to find Creech, the monster who now inhabits a truck. Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley, and Thomas Lennon also star.
I don’t want to say avoid this movie and I am not even suggesting that. For all we know, Monster Truck could surprise us all and be good. But with the trailers that have come out so far, it’s hard to believe that adults who watch this with their kids won’t hope that time flies.
Monster Truck hits theaters on January 13, 2017.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
Melding cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks is an action filled adventure for the whole family that will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart.
