Last night, Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon (Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes) stopped by Supergirl via wormhole to recruit Kara (Melissa Benoist) for a slight problem. The episode was good, but there was definitely not enough crossover – merely the last 2 minutes. Tonight’s episode of The Flash was the payoff as the gang was all here.

Spoilers below.

The Flash 3.8 “Invasion!” review: First, it’s just a normal day in Central City. Wally is at Mach-2 – super fast. Iris wants to discourage him. Cisco does not like to lie, and he really doesn’t want to be friends with Barry. HR wants to open S.T.A.R Labs up to the public, complete with particle accelerator VR.

Then… the inciting incident.

A meteor heads for Central City. Barry goes to check it out, and it’s a ship filled with aliens.

Barry: “Enough to give Ridley Scott nightmares.”

Lyla (Audrey Marie Anderson) shows up, but the government is hushing it up. She tell Barry & friends to leave it alone, but Barry grabs Diggle and Oliver (David Ramsey, Stephen Amell) mid-Vigilante fight. They go to make contact with the legends, while Barry and Cisco go to Earth-38… awesome!

Roll call: Green Arrow, Spartan, Speedy (back for aliens), Overwatch, Supergirl, Flash, Vibe, Killer Frost, Firestorm, The Atom, Heat Wave, White Canary, HR, and Joe and Iris West… and Kid Flash (Amell, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards, Benoist, Gustin, Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Franz Drameh, Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Caity Lotz, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, and Keiynan Lonsdale.

Everyone is appropriately impressed by Supergirl. Especially when she shows off her skills.

Iris to Barry: “Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow? Oh my god. He just got so much hotter.” Yes he did, Iris. Yes he did.

Kara heard stories about The Dominators, but Thea interrupts, “Barry says you are more powerful than a locomotive?” Yaaasss!!!

They need a team leader. Cisco (still mad at Barry) chooses Oliver. Oliver chooses Barry because he brought everyone together. Felicity tries to talk to him about it, and Cisco is still funny, even in anger – “It’s illegal to be mad at Barry.”

Jax and Stein tell Barry and Oliver about future Barry’s warning. He wants to tell everyone but Oliver stops him, “One sci-fi problem at a time.” Smart. Stein soon has a vision, and asks Caitlyn to see him home. They talk about her problems. Stein finds a daughter he didn’t have before.

The Dominators stole the president.

Cisco finds the recording and everything is out in the open. Nobody wants Barry to go to the fight, except Supergirl who will always trust him and Oliver who won’t go without him. So they leave Oliver behind too. Good thing.

Mick is Mick with his Mick-ish ways. On Supergirl’s ability to see through things: “You can see everyone’s bits.” Mick says what everyone thinks about the x-ray vision. They show up and step right into a trap – immediate mind control.

Oliver gives a really good speech to Barry, about choice and consequences. It makes sense and shows why Oliver is the leader of everyone. The others have come back and attack S.T.A.R. Labs. Oliver has a bananas fight scene with Diggle and White Canary.

Cisco’s explanation of what’s going on: “Now everyone’s crazy and going all Kill Bill on the both of them.” Wally joins to help.

The science geeks figure out what to do, but it seems impossible. Barry tricks bad Supergirl – “Hey Supergirl! Let’s finally see who’s faster.” It worked, but just then…

The Dominators stole Sarah, Thea, Ray, Diggle, and Oliver.

This really was the “Best. Team-up. Ever!” And Arrow looks to be even better than that when the alien visit brings a dream world or fugue state which brings back familiar faces from the past. So exciting!

The Flash returns next Tuesday at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

The crossover episode of Arrow (and episode 100) airs tomorrow night at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

The crossover episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday nights at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

FOX’s synopsis:
