Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech ended up being the most-talked-about part of Sunday night’s broadcast of the 2017 Golden Globes, but there was something else noteworthy going on during the ceremony that you likely missed — Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield were kissing while Ryan Gosling was accepting his award.
Yes, that’s right, Marvel heroes Deadpool and Spider-Man were making out on live TV!!!
Check out the video of it here below.
The folks at Buzzfeed noticed the occurrence, which took place at the table where Reynolds and Garfield seated together. Reynolds and Gosling were both up for the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical” award (Reynolds for Deadpool; Gosling for La La Land), and when Gosling’s name was announced as the winner, Reynolds turned to Garfield, who was seated beside him, and they started kissing, hands on face and everything. Reynolds’ actress wife, Blake Lively, can be seen seated to his other side laughing her ass off, as are others at their table, and who can blame them!
Andrew Garfield was there for his nomination for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama” for Hacksaw Ridge, but he lost to Casey Affleck, who won for Manchester by the Sea.
In the video below at the 1:30 mark when you see the backs of presenters Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as Gosling ascends the stairs to the stage, look all the way over to the left part of the screen. Here’s the area circled for your reference:
Reynolds is a born comedian, so it’s no surprise he’d do something like this, and Garfield has shown that he has a good sense of humor, too. I’m glad the cameras caught this humorous moment.
Gosling’s film La La Land took home 7 wins including Best Actor, Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Director (Damien Chazelle), and Motion Picture for Musical or Comedy. Both Hacksaw Ridge and Deadpool walked away empty handed. Click here for a full list of winners of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.
