As expected, the big Star Wars announcement was just that, an announcement. No trailer, but an opportunity for fans to participate in Force For Change, a Star Wars-themed charity program that helps finds solutions for problems that affect the world.
Obviously, this means the trailer will be dropping during Star Wars Celebration, which happens to be this weekend. However, for those who are in a giving mood, you might want to check out what Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill have to say in the video for the newest Force For Change campaign. Check it out below.
In the video, Ridley and Hamill are giving fans a chance to win three amazing prizes, as well as a chance to win all three. The first is to be a part of the still untitled Han Solo spinoff movie (I’m guessing they’ll reveal the title during Celebration). The second is to walk the red carpet for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Finally, you can see Skywalker Ranch for yourself and have a private screening of A New Hope – no word yet if it’s the original or new edition.
Of course, if you want to win you have to give. Since this is all for a good cause, know that all donations and proceeds will go towards UNICEF and Starlight Children’s Foundation, in collaboration with Omaze. You’ll have multiple chances to donate, and the more you donate, the more chances you have of winning each, or maybe all, prizes.
During the video, Hamill asked Ridley to recall some of her favorite places on Skywalker Ranch. But because she has never been there, she tried to fib by making up stories about an inn. It went on for a little longer than it should, but ultimately the video was meant to announce the newest Force For Change campaign.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. Newcomers include Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
The untitled Han Solo spinoff stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, using a screenplay written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, the film opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.
