When Vanity Fair images for Star Wars: The Force Awakens started coming out, it was our first good look at the film which no one really knew about. That tradition continues with Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Four new Vanity Fair covers have just been released. While we still know next to nothing about the plot of the film, these covers may give us an idea of what to expect. Check it out below.

Out of the four covers, Kelly Marie Tran is the only new face to grace the Resistance. Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern are nowhere in sight. We’ll see them eventually.

It may be reading too much into this, but the fact that there are four individual covers is very interesting. Based on the early plot synopsis and trailer, we know that the First Order is making a power move in order to get a better position in the senate. Meanwhile, Rey (Daisy Ridley) is training with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the island of Ahch-To. And the Resistance seems to be under attack by an unknown threat – most likely the First Order. So does that mean we’ll be seeing two groups? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Giving Carrie Fisher her own cover with the tag “The Legacy” is just one of the many fitting send-offs for the late actor, who died in December 2016. She’s the gold standard of girl power, and has raised the bar on making powerful female characters a presence in sci-fi films.

But don’t expect to find any significant plot points within these covers. It’s not like they would spoil anything right before they release the film. It’s hard not to appreciate these aesthetically pleasing photos taken by the great Annie Leibovitz. I’m sure it will inspire many to purchase magnificent flowing space capes and imposing fighter pilot jackets as worn by Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), and new character Rose Tico (Tran).

But they aren’t the only ones with a new look. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) has a brand new scar, which he received from his duel against the inexperienced Rey. Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) is also sporting a staff, a weapon we never saw her wield in The Force Awakens. General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) continues to look menacing.

Finally, Luke and Rey look pretty much the same as when we last saw them. Again, does that mean the group will be split up just as we saw in The Empire Strikes Back? That’s still not clear. Perhaps (but very unlikely) we’ll get more information as more photos are released.
