I really shouldn’t have to even explain the concept here. Few people are unfamiliar with this game and hopefully they have even seen the amazing cult classic (or at least it should be) motion picture released in the eighties. Clue #1 is the very first comic adaptation of the Hasbro game of which I have a multitude of variations in my possession.
Drawing upon over half a century of nostalgia but modernizing it for today’s consumption, this comic is a tribute to all generations who have loved this game. Drawing upon modern figures as the classic characters, this story sticks fairly close to the basics but includes one extra touch: a fourth wall breaking butler, Upton. His narration might actually be the highlight of the entire series.
Special notice must be given to the fact that there are three extra clues in the back of different variant covered comics. It’s a neat ploy to drive business and still give the reader something special in each book. You’ll love this premiere issue like I did, I am sure of it. Hilarity unfolds from the start!
When the mysterious Mr. Boddy turns up dead at his own dinner party, everyone’s a suspect! Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum– all the familiar faces from the famous board game are back with a couple new twists. But will Boddy’s Body be the last to fall, or is it just the beginning? Follow the clues and solve the mystery in IDW’s new CLUE series!
