The long-awaited next adaptation of the Stephen King horror IT is just a few short weeks away from being released.
But there are some things to help pass the time while you await the movie’s arrival. For example, a new virtual reality cinematic experience was released this week, which sees you crossing paths with Pennywise the Dancing Clown a few times. In addition to that, if you happen to be in the Hollywood area, there’s a haunted house attraction going on right now as well.
You can learn more about that and check out the VR experience below.
SYNOPSIS:
New Line Cinema’s horror thriller IT, directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids is faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
IT stars Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd (Allegiant, TV’s Hemlock Grove) as the story’s central villain, Pennywise. An ensemble of young actors also star in the film, including Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip), Sophia Lillis (37), Finn Wolfhard (TV’s Stranger Things), Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chosen Jacobs (upcoming Cops and Robbers), Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween) and Nicholas Hamilton (Captain Fantastic).
Muschietti is directing IT from a screenplay adapted by Chase Palmer & Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg and Barbara Muschietti are producing, with Marty P. Ewing, Doug Davison and Jon Silk serving as executive producers.
The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), production designer Claude Paré (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), editor Jason Ballantine (The Great Gatsby), and costume designer Janie Bryant (TV’s Mad Men).
The haunted house attraction began on August 14th and will run through September 10th, open each day from 1PM to 11PM. The best part? It’s free to get in. The worst part? That means lots of people will be jumping all over the opportunity. You can find all of the info on that over at the IT Experience website, which has a big SOLD OUT! warning, but also says they’re accepting walk-ups until 9:30PM. So basically, if you’re close by it might be worth trying to get in; if you’re not nearby, it’s probably better not to risk it.
The second best part? Others who have checked the haunted house out have recorded their experience, and you can see how things look in the video below.
IT will be released on September 8th. You can find trailers and more right here if you haven’t already seen them.
