Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra
Ramses The Damned #2
Paperback | Kindle | Audiobook
By Anne Rice & Christopher Rice
Publisher: Anchor Books
Release Date: November 21, 2017 The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned is my favorite of all things Anne Rice. For almost thirty years, I have loved that novel. The elegance and horror that exist side by side on those pages embodies everything I look for in a book. In no way is it the perfect example of any particular writing style or genre; instead it is a spectacular balance of the greatness that is needed to create a classical work of prose. So you can only begin to imagine how ecstatic I was to learn that Rice was reviving these characters for a new release titled Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra. This was to be a dream come true, literally (pun intended).

Remember how Gambit was one of the X-Men spinoffs FOX would be working on? The film would follow the critical and commercial success of Deadpool and Wolverine. Even Channing Tatum, who would star as the title character, appeared at SDCC to announce that the project was in development. But the film hit multiple production stalls and was even forced to be put on the shelf because they were unable to find a director. Both Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman walked away from the project due to creative differences. However, it seems like the studio was able to settle on Gore Verbinski to direct. With a director locked down, the film can finally start taking the necessary steps towards production. But before they can do that, they have to assemble a cast. Reports say that Lizzy Caplan is in talks to be the first to join Tatum. More on the story below.

Recent Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailers have been vague on the details of the plot of Rian Johnson’s latest film. Though we got a sense that Rey (Daisy Ridley) was on her way to becoming a Jedi, despite Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) reluctance and general pessimistic outlook for the Jedi Order, Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Issac) journeys were just beginning. Now with the release of the film less than a month away, we can expect to see more from Star Wars: The Last Jedi in the form of TV spots. Just don’t expect them to reveal anything too spoilery. Even the TV spots are keeping some of the characters in the dark, as the latest one has Finn asking Poe what happened to Rey.
