M. Night Shyamalan is not one for traditional storytelling. So when he inserted that twist in Split, it showed that the world of Unbreakable was much bigger than we originally thought. That’s because it was revealed that Split took place in the same universe as Unbreakable, and the story would continue on with Glass.
Now Universal has released the newest trailer for Glass starring Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Bruce Willis in a film that could change the superhero genre as we know it. Check it out below.
The best thing about Glass is that it is a sequel that doesn’t use any known heroes and villains. Here we have original characters in what is basically a deconstructed version of superheroes and supervillains. So this all looks very exciting. Especially since Shyamalan has seen a string of hits as of late following films like The Visit.
In Glass, Jackson, Willis, and McAvoy all return to reprise their roles as Elijah Prince, David Dunn, and Kevin Wendell Crumb, respectively. Anya Taylor-Joy also returns. Additionally, Sarah Paulson will play Prince, Dunn, and Crumb’s doctor who will attempt to cure them of their mental conditions. She specializes in treating people who believe that they are superheroes. So it will be fun to see how all of that will be balanced on the big screen.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals””2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal””in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass.
Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.
Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
Glass opens January 18, 2019. You can find the first trailer here as well if you missed it.
