The first trailer for Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson, was quick to establish the hero’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now the second trailer will show us her quest to answer the questions to her unknown past while also bringing an end to the Kree and Skrull war. Check out the second trailer here below.

The second trailer sheds more light on Marvel Studios’ upcoming film. In it, we see that Carol Danvers, as a Kree soldier, arrives in ’90s Los Angeles, where she is hunting for Skrulls. At the same time, we see a much younger Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who is assigned to keep track of her and her activities. She helps explain who she is and why the noble warrior Kree have been fighting the shapeshifting Skrulls for ions.

But the trailer than takes a turn, revealing that Danvers had a past life on Earth. It’s just been locked away from her memory. The Kree found her and made her into one of them. Which made her go higher, further, and faster than any normal human ever could. “We made you one of us. So you could live longer, stronger, superior,” says Annette Benning‘s character. “You were reborn.”

Danvers’ arrival does come with some complications as those previously locked memories start to surface. “Something in my past is the key to all of this,” Danvers says, sure that she will find out who she truly is. And apparently, she still knows how to pilot an aircraft with a few flips of the switch. Much to the amazement of Fury.

“Would you like to know what you really are?,” asks Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). Of course, with Mendelsohn playing the villain, you know that it’s going to be good.

This is also the first time we get to see Jude Law‘s mysterious character speak. He’s been described as the leader of the Kree unit that Danvers is a part of. Although, we don’t know his name yet, some speculate that it could be Mar-Vell.

“This war, it’s just the beginning,” Talos says with a deep and threatening tone, while also hinting at something much bigger than the fight between the two alien races. Gee, I wonder what that war could be?

“I’m not going to fight your war,” Danvers says. “I am going to end it.” And just like that, we get yet another succession shot of different ages of Carol Danvers rises up until her title character appears, charging up for an attack. And it wouldn’t be much of a Captain Marvel film without a nod to Goose the cat. Yes, she may be known as Chewie in the comics, but one thing that comes as a surprise is that Fury is a cat person.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander. But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls “” the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.

The film stars also Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, and Clark Gregg

Captain Marvel is written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who also contributed to writing the script, directs. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on March 8, 2019.
