The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Holiday short

Everyone seems to be in the Christmas spirit. Even the minifigures of the collapsed world of The LEGO Movie. Well, at least Emmet (Chris Pratt), who is trying to bring holiday joy while everyone around him is just trying to survive the apocalypse.

Now Warner Bros. is showing how he and the rest of the gang will be celebrating with an all-new holiday short to help us get ready for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Check it out below.

It’s been almost four years since the first LEGO Movie was released, and things aren’t looking too good for the former Brickburg, which is now called Apocalypseburg. Here we see Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) on a brooding session, explaining to audiences what has happened since they last saw them. Despite all of the devastation, the always cheery Emmet suggests that they have a holiday party to brighten the situation. Of course, Lucy advises against it, since it could bring some very unwanted attention towards the already broken city.

And it does, as Apocalypseburg lights up, like a literal Christmas tree, catching the attention of the sequel’s two antagonists Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Haddish) and Sweet Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz). Luckily, the two bring good tidings as they help top the tree with an adorable smiling star.

This may not be the full-length sequel we were hoping for; the film does come out in theaters next February, after all. But it should be more than enough to hold us over until then. Of course, you can also watch the original film or some of its spinoffs.

Here is the official synopsis for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part:

The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part,” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters on February 8, 2019.
