James Cameron Congratulates Marvel After ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Tops ‘Avatar’; Russo Brothers Respond With Praise and Thanks

Avengers: Endgame

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame surpassed James Cameron‘s Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie of all-time. It is a huge milestone for some, and for others, it is an arbitrary milestone that is practically meaningless, because we all know which is the better of the two films.

Despite that, Cameron took some time to congratulate Endgame directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who gave their thanks to him for inspiring them to become the filmmakers that they are now. Check out the exchanges, below.

Of course, none of this would have happened without Disney and Marvel re-releasing a new cut of Avengers: Endgame for a just a couple of weeks. This new cut includes a deleted scene and a tribute for the fans. Judging by the reactions to the new material, it was worth the extra viewing. For others, not so much. In any case, Avengers: Endgame is now the highest-grossing movie of all-time. As such, Cameron congratulated Marvel for their efforts:

And the Russo Brothers did the same thing for Cameron, adding that he and his love for filmmaking is the reason why they got into the business in the first place and that he is a constant inspiration to them:

While the two exchanging respect to each other is commendable, it is a bit weird to know that Disney now owns both Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox, the studio that distributed Avatar.

But even before any of that happened, Avengers: Endgame was already one of the most-anticipated movies ever, which gave it a really good shot at doing the impossible. And it accomplished that. It may not have been easy for the film. But it happened. So now we will just have to wait and see how long Avengers: Endgame can hold on to that title. Especially since there is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the Avatar sequels on the way.
