Casting has begun on Amazon’s massive Lord of the Rings series based on J.R.R. Tolkien‘s classic books, and one of the lead roles has now been filled.

It’s being reported that Will Poulter has joined the show as one of the main characters, though it has not yet been revealed which character that is. Poulter is known for his work in Son of Rambow, We’re the Millers, The Maze Runner, The Revenant, Detroit, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and the recent Midsommar among others.

The casting was reported by Variety, who also recently reported that Australian actress Markella Kavenagh was in talks for a role in the series. Again, details are scarce. But unlike whoever Poulter is playing, Variety was able to share that Kavenagh will likely be playing a character named Tyra.

The crew assembled to create the Lord of the Rings series was revealed in a video earlier this summer, which can be found below with some other tweets the show’s official Twitter account has sent out.

Developing the series is JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who will also handle showrunner duties. Payne and McKay were uncredited writers on Star Trek Beyond, and also worked on screenplays for an untitled Star Trek sequel and a Flash Gordon project.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, A Monster Calls, The Impossible, and The Orphanage director J.A. Bayona is set to helm the first two episodes.

The creative team also includes Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad) as a writer and executive producer, Jason Cahill (Fringe) as a writer and executive producer, Justin Doble (Stranger Things) as a writer and executive producer, Helen Shang (Hannibal) as a writer and co-producer, Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4) as a writer and consulting producer, Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones) as a writer and consulting producer, and Glenise Mullins as a consulting writer.

Other executive producers include Belén Atienza, Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, Sharon Tal Yguado, and Bayona. Ron Ames is a co-producer.

Rick Heinrichs, who won an Academy Award for his work on Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, is the production designer. Jason Smith, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on The Revenant, will be the visual effects supervisor. Kate Hawley, who worked on Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim, is the costume designer. John Howe, who worked on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film trilogies, is creating illustrations and concept art for the series.

Tom Shippey, a scholar of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work, is also helping out on the project.

No release window for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings has been announced yet. Click right here for more on the series.
