| Dark Horse To Publish ‘The Art of The Venture Bros.’ |

One of the announcements coming out this weekend from WonderCon 2014 in Anaheim, CA comes from Dark Horse, with word that they will finally be releasing The Art of Venture Bros. The good news is that the book has finally been confirmed for release, having been rumored to exist since 2013’s Comic-Con International: San Diego; The bad news is the book won’t be out until October 22, 2014. As announced by Dark Horse Books, “This massive coffee table book includes original artwork, character designs, storyboards, painted backgrounds, and props from every episode of The Venture Bros. to date, with accompanying commentary on the development of the series from co-creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer!” The Art of The Venture Bros. will also have a forward by comedian and Venture Bros. guest voice actor Patton Oswalt. You can pre-order The Art of Venture Bros. now.

DC Comics had some fun in honor of the Blood Moon eclipse that occurred last night. DC has released one of their patented teasers for The New 52: Future’s End, the company’s next weekly series, set to launch May 7, 2014. As you can see from the image below, you can get a hint of what Jeff Lemire, Brian Azzarello, Dan Jurgens, and Keith Giffen have planned for their universe spanning tale, including big parts for Batman Beyond and Grifter. Also, is that Tim Drake in his original costume in the upper left hand corner, hanging out with Booster Gold? | DC/Vertigo Comics’ ‘Scalped’ TV Series Coming To WGN America |

It was revealed today that WGN America has decided to develop a TV series based on the DC/Vertigo Comics series Scalped. The comics series, created by writer Jason Aaron with art by RM Guera, revolves around the life of Dashiell Bad Horse, a cop who goes back to the reservation he grew up on so he can go undercover to bring down the corrupt leader of the tribal council Lincoln Red Crow. Scalped will not be the first original series for WGN America, which will launch its first series, Salem, on April 20th 2014. It will also join a heavy slate of DC Comics properties in development, joining the previously announced Gotham, The Flash, Constantine, Hourman, Preacher, and iZombie.

| Amazon Acquires Digital Comics Platform comiXology |

Comic book fans got a surprise on Thursday when it was announced that Amazon will acquire the digital comics platform comiXology. ComiXology has become the biggest digital distributor for comics and is also one of the top non-game apps in terms of in-app purchases. There are not a lot of details at this time on how the acquisition will affect current users of the platform. In an announcement on comiXology’s website, CEO David Steinberger said “ComiXology will retain its identity as an Amazon subsidiary and we’re not done “˜taking comics further'”.
