| Comics of Doom: Episode 127: Top Cow’s Matt Hawkins |

Hey there comics fans! Sure, we know, San Diego Comic-Con is over and done with, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun with comics and comic-related things! Heck, no! In fact, if you’re needing your comics high to keep going and growing throughout the week, then have we got your prescription! On this episode of Comics of Doom, Hunter takes a seat with Matt Hawkins, Top Cow president and writer of the upcoming series Think Tank, to discuss his day-to-day work, as well as his comic. Now, this isn’t all that they talk about by any means, in fact, Matt takes Hunter to school for about thirty minutes when he talks all about the modern marvels of science and how they influenced Think Tank. The comic looks really cool, and I hope you guys give this a listen because I think anyone who’s into science and stuff will have a great time! | Batman 101: A Beginner’s Guide To The Dark Knight |

A lot of sites are probably putting together several lists right about now in honor of this Friday’s release of The Dark Knight Rises that would name most of these as “must-reads if you’re wanting to get into Batman comics,” or something to that effect. But how I’d like to phrase this entry is in more of an academic sense. These books that I’m about to suggest to you are being referred to as “Read these first” because a lot of the more “higher learning” readings require a sophisticated palette that must be developed by learning the different takes on the character of Batman prior to jumping shoulders’ deep into the complex and clever stories of these more advanced works. Now, that’s not to say that any of the comics listed are bad. Sure I may not like some of them as much as others, but based on my research and personal experiences, the comics listed here in Batman 101 are some of the books that have gotten most hardcore Batman fans to start loving the character in the same way I do. Keep in mind that this is a list of comic books, so you’ll look elsewhere to see things like Batman ’66 and Batman: The Animated Series. So, if you’re ready, let’s get started with something I like to call Batman 101: A Beginner’s Guide To The Dark Knight.

| SDCC 2012: Neil Gaiman Returns To ‘The Sandman’ With New Mini-Series
Well this sure is interesting. It was announced at the DC Comics/Vertigo Comic-Con panel on Thursday that legendary creator Neil Gaiman is returning to the comic book series that made him a household name, The Sandman, and he’s bringing J.H. Williams III along with him. As of now, as is the case with most San Diego Comic-Con related news, there’s not a lot to report, but the comic is labeled as a mini-series from the series’ creator, Gaiman, and Williams, the current main creative force behind Batwoman, as the artist. Continue reading for a quote from Gaiman, a video of the announcement from the man himself, and some preview art that was shown off in San Diego.
