Independent comics have been a mainstay in my life for decades now. One of the best parts of this gig is access to so much indie work in addition to the mainstream companies. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: the indie books are filled with love and created with passion. Lords Of The Cosmos #1 is certainly all that and more. I love that it was a successful Kickstarter campaign; it shows that I’m not alone in my excitement for this comic book.

I think we can all remember our first concert/show, right? If you are an audiophile then I have no doubt you do. Well, KISS: The Demon #1 reminds me of my first show since the headliner was the aforementioned band KISS. Not only were they my first band to see live but, later on, they were the first group I ever went and saw without an adult.

So, to say they hold a special place in my heart is to understate things in an enormous way. The point is, I share that same feeling with the main character of this story, which is a prequel to the ongoing comic.

Ladycastle #1 is candid look into what would happen if all the knights and soldiers went off to war and (mostly) got themselves killed. Bordering on satirical, this story focuses on a group of ladies that refuse to accept the roles that their society tries to place on them. From a picky princess who isn’t going to marry a prince just because the king insists, to a blacksmith’s wife who is apparently just as good of a ‘smith as her husband.

Last month I reviewed the first issue of this mini-series and found it to be everything I wanted and more and the follow up is no different. Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman #2 is phenomenal from start to finish. Action packed and full of sly references to that time period and the changes that have occurred since.
