New York Comic-Con 2011 Expands To 4 Days

New York Comic-Con

New York Comic-Con is one of the biggest conventions in the United States and the biggest on the east coast, and this year Con attendees will be treated to an extra day, as the Con expands to four days this October.

For 2011, the event will be running Thursday to Sunday, with the first day serving as a preview night, much like the Wednesday night at San Diego Comic-Con. This will accommodate more attendees, as well as more programming for artists, retailers, and exhibitors, as the Con opens to the public for the first time for three full days. This also means more hours for the Cultyard and New York Anime Festival, which was a major draw for cosplayers at the convention center in 2010.

This is a big move considering how young NYCC is, but it shows the growth of the convention since its inception in 2006. The 2011 NYCC will be held from Thursday October 13, 2011 through Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

NYCC 2010: Cosplay photos: PowergirlI think we can all agree here that one of the best things about attending any Comic-Con is getting the chance to see all those costumes. Whether it is a hot girl dressed up like your favorite superhero or just a cool looking stud dressed up like Master Chief, Cosplay is not only acceptable at the Con, it is the thing to do!

But when you are surrounded by a sea of Stormtroopers, Supermen, and half of the G.I Joe roster, how does one get a chance to see the best costumes at the event? Fear not, dear reader, as Geeks of Doom is proud to round up some of the more awesome costumes present at this year’s New York Comic-Con, which took place on October 8-10, 2010.

Once again, big super powered props needs to go to one Jared Fowler, who was kind enough to provide us with some of his nice pictures.

So what are you all waiting for? A gallery of hot looking babes and cool looking costumes await you. Face it fanboy: You’ve hit the jackpot!

Ever say to yourself, “My, I sure like to experience a comic book convention without having to wait in long lines and weed through dense populated crowds?” Well, dear readers, you are in luck!

Geeks of Doom is proud to present their photo coverage for this year’s New York Comic-Con. Let’s face it, what comics convention coverage is complete without yet another photo galley parade of the three-day event, which took place this year on October 8-10.

In this gallery, you can see some of the sights, creators from both the comics and book industry, and booths that this year’s event had to offer. A special Geeky salute goes out to Jared Fowler, who was more than happy to provide us with some sweet-looking pictures. This gallery would be rather boring without some of Jared’s superb pics, so thanks big guy!

Be on the lookout soon for our New York Comic-Con 2010 Cosplay Photos post coming real soon, where we give you a look at some of the coolest costumes at the Con.

So what are you guys waiting for? Scroll through this awesome gallery and enjoy!

NYCC 2010: Boba Fett Plays Zelda’s ‘The Song of Storms’ On The Accordion

Hunter Camp   |

Epic can barely describe the events that I witnessed as I was leaving the convention for the last day of 2010’s New York Comic Con last weekend.

My eyes and ears were treated to a magical experience that I was lucky enough to catch on video, and here it is below.

It’s of Boba Fett playing “The Song of Storms” from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the accordion.
