| Kickstarter Spotlight: Black Suit Of Death The Series – Issue #1 |

It takes more than skill and money to create a comic book. It takes passion and persistence, most likely in equal amounts. That’s exactly what the creators behind Black Suit Of Death The Series – Issue #1 have going for them. It’s a story with a science fiction background but shrouded in the mysteries of the ancient world. For this story is no less than the origin of the Grim Reaper! Without spoiling anything, the story is as follows: thousands of years ago, a distant planet suffered from overpopulation. A scientist is therefore tasked with solving the energy crisis. Building a biomechanical suit that takes the life force of the unworthy and sends it into the planet to sustain the occupants, the scientist is denounced and exiled with his creation to the primitive planet of Earth. Passing from one bearer to the next for millennia, a new mythos of death is born: The Grim Reaper. Who will be the next recipient and what will they do with it? Well, that’s the point of this comic and Kickstarter campaign!

I’m a regular supporter of campaigns on Kickstarter, as you may know. I support it financially as a backer, just like many of you do, and I try to shine a little light on many of them here at Geeks of Doom through Kickstarter Spotlight articles such as this one. But this little crowdfunding campaign is different from most. The whole purpose of Kickstarter Secrets is to help other campaigns raise more money and create more enthusiasm with backers. As a company, Kickstarter helps fund a lot of various ideas, but many of the failed campaigns could have done better under different circumstances. And that’s what this campaign is all about!

It wasn’t too long ago that we saw a couple of other Lady Death Kickstarters (Damnation Game and Chaos Rules) from creator Brian Pulido. I backed them both and was more than happy to do it again, it is Lady Death after all! As with his other fundraisers, Pulido sets realistic goals and puts together some amazing rewards. Read on to find out more about Pulido’s new graphic novel Lady Death: Extinction Express, his latest venture into the world (or is that underworld) of Lady Death, and to watch the official Kickstarter video!

| Kickstarter Spotlight: Bring Back ‘MST3K’
If you’re a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, the popular comedy series featuring a man and two robots riffing on bad movies, then a new Kickstarter campaign might just be of interest to you. Creator and host Joel Hodgson has set up the crowdfunding campaign, with hopes of bringing the series back from the dead. If all goes as hoped, there could be up to 12 new episodes coming in the future, and who knows, maybe more than that. You can read more about the campaign and watch the Kickstarter video for it below.

| Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ With Kane Hodder, Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini |

A while back I was reading about a video game called Slasher Vol.1: Summer Camp from Gun Media, an Evolve-style online co-op game inspired by Friday the 13th in which you either play as one of the characters trying not to be killed by a mask-wearing serial killer…or you play AS the mask-wearing serial killer. Though not a very big fan of these online only co-op games, I was very interested in learning more about it as a huge fan of horror and especially the Friday the 13th flicks. Then came word early this year that another Evolve-style co-op game was coming that was actually based on Friday the 13th and featured Jason Voorhees instead of just being inspired by them. At the time it was revealed that a game developer was working on the game, but it wasn’t revealed who. Well, as it turns out, these two projects are now one in the same. They’ve not only put together a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for the game, simply titled Friday the 13th: The Game, but they also have alums of the franchise working on the game as well including Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini, Harry Manfredini, and my personal favorite Jason (who I’ve had the honor of personally being “choked” by like so many other fans have) back as the character for the first time in 14 years, Kane Hodder. You can read much more about the project and watch the Kickstarter video and announcement trailer below.
