In the past few weeks, Marvel and Warner Bros. have dropped huge bombs on their fans by making massive superhero announcements. Fox seems content with what they have in terms of X-Men and Fantastic Four, but it seems that Sony is in a bit of trouble with Spider-Man. We didn’t get the news that the webslinger would join the Avengers this week, and the latest rumor could reveal that the studio is scrambling to figure out what to do with their franchise. At first Sony announced their own Spideyverse in order to compete with Marvel and WB, but with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 performing lower than expected, Sony went back to the drawing board. One of their first moves was to reschedule The Amazing Spider-Man 3 for a 2018 release, and reschedule the Dirty Dozen-style Sinister Six for a 2016 release. And who knows what’s going on with that Venom movie. Now Sony is rumored to have an interesting film lined up. A new report says that the studio is planning to release an all-female Spider-Man team-up film. Hit the jump for more.

When we hear about origins story, most of the recent films have it set in modern times to give the characters a more contemporary feel. When Warner Brothers announced their massive DC slate, not only did it include Justice League, but it also included solo films for the Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and even Wonder Woman. Now, Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot as the titular character, will be interesting, not because it will be one of the first solo films based on a female superhero in the war of the Comic Book Studios, but that the film could actually be set in the 1920s. That’s the rumor at least. Hit the jump for more details.

| Check That: ‘Labyrinth’ Sequel Might Not Be In The Works After All
Last week we spotted a curious little bit of information in an article by Variety that seemed to indicate that, along with the new Fraggle Rock and Dark Crystal movies we’ve heard about, The Jim Henson Company was also working on a sequel to their 1986 fan-favorite Labyrinth…something no one else had ever heard about. It seemed odd that not another peep about this sequel was to be found anywhere on the internet, but seeing as how it was Variety, we ran with it while also warning that it could turn out to be a misunderstanding. And as it turns out, sadly, this might be the case after all. According to Entertainment Weekly, sources have told them that a sequel is not being developed at the moment. The Henson Co. had no comment.

Yesterday, we reported that Sony might be willing to let Marvel use the character in attempts to reestablish him as the lucrative franchise character he was while Sam Raimi was directing.
