Fox To Attempt A ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot?

Fantastic4

Now that every single big superhero title out there has been made into a movie or has a movie on the way, the new popular trend is to take the ones that for the most part failed, and “reboot” or “re-imagine” them. The newest movie rumored to be heading for a new vision, is Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four had a $100 Million budget and only made $154 Million domestically, but they did pull down $330 Million worldwide which isn’t too bad. The sequel — Rise of the Silver Surfer — didn’t fare as well, costing $130 Million to make and bringing in $131 Million domestic (ouch). Worldwide, they made $289 Million.

The iffy-but-decent box office take was the high point, if you can believe it. The first movie received mixed, but mostly negative reviews; the sequel was hated by most.

The Return Of Robert Patrick & The T-1000 In ‘Terminator 5’?

T-1000

After the Terminator Salvation panel at Wondercon, McG apparently stuck around to chat it up for a bit. One of the topics brought up, was the idea of Robert Patrick (who played the best evil Terminator of them all — the T-1000 — in T2) returning in Terminator 5 if, of course, Terminator Salvation succeeds and they decide to make another one, both of which are fully expected. Keep in mind, this is a planned trilogy, not just one at a time. Even star Christian Bale supposedly signed with the expectations of three films.

Surprisingly enough, McG responded with positive feelings about the idea. In fact, it appears that he has even been talking to Robert Patrick quite a bit (they’ve worked together twice in We Are Marshall and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle), and it’s no where near as far-fetched as you might think. Apparently McG has been busy with a lot of former cast and crew lately — Arnold Schwarzenegger saw the movie recently and they’re set to meet and discuss possible ways for Arnie to join the party; Linda Hamilton has been talking with him a lot about her possible voice over work, and McG is trying to get James Cameron to take a little peek at the movie as well, just for approval, of course.

New ‘Tron 2’ Story Details & Info
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

Tron

Aint it Cool News has received some news out of Canada where Tron 2 is currently filming. So far we’ve heard a lot of stuff here and there but nothing has really be solid, including the various titles we’ve heard. This source is expected to be fairly reliable, and they seem to have great info, so here it is!

Right off the bat — the title. It looks like it won’t be called Tr2n or Tron 2 or just Tron as we’ve heard; it’s looking like it will get the colon treatment, like Tron: Our Bikes Are More Awesome Than Yours or Tron: The Virtual Beginning of the End Begins Again Soon. This is good news, as the titles we had heard so far weren’t very good, so hopefully they dream up something cool.

The movie will apparently begin in 1989, where Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is living well by selling toys and novelties based on his experiences in the first movie (Recognizer night lights?). For no reason at all, Flynn then disappears completely, leaving behind his seven-year old son, Sean.

Some years or so later, Sean is now in his twenties (I’m assuming that this will be the role of Garrett Hedlund [Read: Garrett Hedlund Cast As Lead In ‘Tron’]). He goes to meet Tron himself — Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner), who took over Flynn’s company Encom. Bradley gives him some information which may lead Sean to his father, so he takes it and goes on his search.

Could Billy Crystal Return To Save The Oscars Next Year?

Billy

It’s only been a couple of days since the Academy Awards, and returns are coming in positive for Hugh Jackman‘s job as Oscar host. Seeing as how they like new hosts each year, though, who will get the job next year? Could it possibly be the best man of them all, and the ultimate master of ceremonies, Billy Crystal?

Being so early, and being as unlikely as it is (not to mention it’s Fox), this is to be taken with an entire salt mine but — Roger Friedman of Fox News is reporting that he has heard from multiple sources that Mr. Crystal might just be willing to talk about making a glorious return.

Seth Rogen Says ‘The Green Hornet’ Is Not So Dead
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

HornetAs expected, almost right after reports were swirling that The Green Hornet was in big trouble, writer/star Seth Rogen has chimed in with where he thinks the project is.

The movie’s issues began when Stephen Chow was announced as being attached to direct and to star as Kato, but then decided he probably wouldn’t direct anymore. As that went on, rumors started to arise that the project was in trouble and that many people close to the project were saying that it was either dead or very unlikely to happen any time soon.

Drew McWeeny from HitFix was the main source who heard these far-from-promising rumors (see The Possible Sad, Sudden Death Of “˜The Green Hornet’), and so it was fitting that Seth Rogen took the time to e-mail him directly and set things straight.
