Is Digital Arnold Schwarzenegger A Good Move For ‘Terminator Salvation’?
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

T-800

One topic that some might argue was always bigger than anything else related to McG‘s Terminator Salvation is: would we or would we not see Arnold Schwarzenegger, and if so, how? Rumors have flown in every direction, from strictly voice over work paired with Arnie-clone Roland Kickinger handling the physical look; to Schwarzenegger actually appearing; to even his likeness possibly being digitally introduced in one fashion or another.

Well, it seems that if you chose C, you’d be absolutely correct. Let’s see what they’ve won!

It’s being reported that a bust made of Schwarzenegger 25 years ago for the first movie is being used as the base for digital reproduction. That’s right, Arnold Schwarzenegger will apparently be appearing in the movie, but he didn’t do one thing for the appearance, just OK’d it, looked at it, and gave the gubernatorial thumbs-up. The thumbs-up may have been digital as well, we’re still checking in to that one.

So is this a good idea? Or has all of this Arnold business been way too distracting? With Christian Bale, you wouldn’t think that this would be as big of a deal as it has been, so one must wonder what the payoff will bring, or even worse, if it will heed negative blow-back.

Are The Rights To Make ‘Sin City 2’ For Sale?

The Movie God   |  @   |

Sin City

It appears that some drama is unfolding in the progress of Frank Miller‘s Sin City 2 — which is assumed to be based on A Dame to Kill. Reports are that The Weinstein Company and sub-studio Dimension Films have run out of time on their contract to produce the much-expected and long-awaited sequel to 2005’s Sin City. On the other hand, the Weinsteins are claiming that that report is completely false, and that they still very much own the property.

Some of the reasons listed for the possible loss of rights are: an extended period of inactivity on the project, which has obviously been going on, considering how long we’ve been waiting for it; as well as the possibility that they didn’t pay more to hold the rights.

Did You Notice Mandarin In ‘Iron Man’? Neither Did We!

Faran Tahir

Sci-Fi Wire spoke to Faran Tahir — the man who played Raza in the first Iron Man movie — exclusively about his possible inclusion in future chapters of the franchise. The information that he offered was pretty interesting and suggested that maybe…just maybe, his character from the first movie was set up to take on the role of legendary Iron Man villain — Mandarin.

Tahir’s Raza character was the main man when it came to Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) captivity. The group that he was leading is part of the infamous Ten Rings organization, which is run by Mandarin. Also worth note from the movie is how Raza references Ghenghis Kahn — an ancestor of Mandarin’s — as well as plays around with a gold ring which held a red stone, as rings are where Mandarin’s powers came from.

Original ‘Ghostbusters’ To Return Afterall? Harold Ramis Says Yes
space
The Movie God   |  @   |

Ghostbusters

A new chapter in the Ghostbusters franchise has been rumored for years and years and years. While a movie never seemed to actually be a possibility, we eventually found out that we would be getting a video game with most of the actors offering their voices to the project — meaning that this was our third movie. Not too long after that, though, it was announced that Year One and The Office writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky were actually working on a script for Ghostbusters 3, which would likely have a new group of younger and currently popular ‘Busters.

Now that we’re all caught up, original member and writer Harold Ramis recently spoke to MTV and wouldn’t ya know it, he claims that if the movie does get done, all original Ghostbusters will reprise their roles!

Now before you get too excited, Ramis was a little vague. To me it sounds like the boys will have roles, but they’ll be more appearances as mentors to the group of new, younger Ghostbusters. So the plan is apparently pretty genius — get the old names back in small roles to gain your nostalgic audience; then cast a group of top current talent to score your new audience; and ta-da, lots and lots of money coming your way.

Click over to watch a small video of the Ramis interview.

‘Thor’ Casting Rumors: Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd? Josh Hartnett? Channing Tatum?

The Movie God   |  @   |

The Net has been buzzing with rumors today, and those rumors are in regards to casting for one of the next big superhero movies from director Kenneth BranaghThor.

The first big rumor came from Latino Review, who received an e-mail from someone claiming to have spotted Branagh having lunch with with three men, one being identified as Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, the giant blonde vampire from HBO’s True Blood. This naturally fits the profile of Thor very well, so naturally speculations began.

Another less fitting name being tossed around as a possible Thor is Channing Tatum, but that one sounds… unlikely.
