‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ Finds Its Titular Dame Ava In Eva Green
|
 |

Director Robert Rodriguez has found his dame that someone is bound to kill for as production on the long-in-development Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is now fully underway. Despite early reports that had both Angelina Jolie and Rachel Weisz both in contention for the role of Ava Lord, described by co-director/Sin City creator Frank Miller as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares,†French actress Eva Green has won the coveted part.
The casting of Green does come as an unexpected surprise – as the best surprises usually tend to be – but she has always been a talented and alluring actress adept at portraying multi-dimensional characters both beautiful and haunted in films such as Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers, Ridley Scott’s underrated 2005 Crusades epic Kingdom of Heaven, and especially in Casino Royale, where she played Vesper Lynd to Daniel Craig in his first (and best until Skyfall was released) time playing James Bond. Recently Green appeared in Tim Burton’s film version of the 1960s Gothic horror soap opera Dark Shadows and is set to appear later this summer in 300: Rise of an Empire. She also played the devious Morgan on the short-lived Starz series Camelot.

We recently found out that Joseph Gordon-Levitt had become one of the candidates for the lead in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It seemed like he would immediately jump to the top of Marvel’s list, but that news has a quick ending to it.
It’s being reported that Gordon-Levitt will be starring in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller‘s long-awaited sequel to Sin City, titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Because of this, the actor will not be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy after all.

’24’ Star Dennis Haysbert To Take Over Michael Clarke Duncan’s Role In ‘Sin City 2’

Robert Rodriguez Says ‘Machete Kills’ and ‘Sin City 2’ Will Film This Year

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez appeared Yesterday at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival to give updates on several of his forthcoming projects, including the formation of his own studio for producing CGI-animated feature films called Quickdraw Animation. He also announced that he will be filming sequels to two of his previous hit movies this year.
Machete Kills, which we first announced here, will go into production in April and the long-delayed Sin City 2 is expected to film later this summer. SDCC 2011: Robert Rodriguez Going Ahead With ‘Sin City’, ‘Machete’ Sequels via Quick Draw

Robert Rodriguez announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 that he is launching a new production company called Quick Draw. This company will work alongside Troublemaker to get his projects made. Troublemaker is his production company working within the studio system and Quick Draw will be his outlet for self-financed projects working outside the standard Hollywood system.
His first two projects coming from Quick Draw will be Sin City 2 and Machete 2. In a roundtable interview, Rodriguez shared that he really felt the need to finance and own his own projects after the Disney/Miramax split where neither the Weinsteins nor he himself owned his films. At this point the scripts for both films are nearly complete. Once he’s happy with the stories he’ll go right into production through Quick Draw, no waiting for money from Hollywood.

Same Old Song? Robert Rodriguez Says ‘Sin City 2’ Could Happen Soon

No one knows exactly how many times we’ve heard talk of a Sin City 2 happening by now. Clearly directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller — who also created the graphic novel — want to make this movie, but the big question has always been when they would actually stand up, buckle down, and get this bad boy going full-steam ahead.
The answer to this question is still unknown, but while speaking to MTV, Rodriguez made it pretty clear that it’s all about when everyone will have the time. We know Miller has gotten into directing his own films and that he’s been working on a story for a sequel to 300; while at the same time, Rodriguez has been plenty busy with Machete, producing Predators, and surely working on his own pile of prospective films.
