| ‘Beauty and The Beast’ Adds Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline
Following Cinderella‘s huge box office success over the weekend, Disney is making a few new announcements for their live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. The Bill Condon-directed film will be adding Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline to the cast. The two actors will be joining Emma Watson (Harry Potter) as Belle; Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) as Beast; Luke Evans (The Hobbit, Dracula Untold) as the brutish Gaston; and Josh Gad (who voices the snowman Olaf in Disney’s animated hit Frozen) as Lefou, Gaston’s sidekick.

| ‘Beauty and the Beast’: Release Date Set For Live-Action Film
Disney has set a 2017 theatrical release date for their live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. The studio had slotted Beauty and the Beast to hit theaters on March 17, 2017, according to Variety, who reported the news today. The film is the first one set for that day so far, with Lionsgate’s The Allegiant Series, Part 2 opening a week later.

| ‘Beauty and The Beast’ Adds ‘Frozen’ Star Josh Gad As Lefou
The villains in Disney animated classics have almost always been paired with some sort of dim-witted buffoon for a sidekick. Whether they are there to help with something nefarious or boosting the lead villain’s ego, you can count on them to be the source of comic relief. So not to anyone’s surprise, when Josh Gad earned a part in Bill Condon‘s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, he took the part of Lefou, Gaston’s (to be played by Luke Evans) sidekick. | ‘Mr. Holmes’ Trailer: Ian McKellen Plays An Aging Sherlock Holmes In New Teaser
The first teaser trailer for Mr. Holmes has been released online by Miramax Films and Roadside Attractions. The movie stars Ian McKellen as the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes in his later years, who finds himself teaming up with the unlikeliest of partners, a young boy, to help him revisit the unsolved mystery that forced him to retire many years prior. | Luke Evans To Play Gaston In Live Action ‘Beauty and The Beast’
You might not have noticed this, but Disney is pretty big on turning all of their animated fairy tale classics into new live action box office blockbusters. Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and so on—they’ve all been adapted into live action movies in recent years or are currently in the process of being adapted into movies. Another one of their classics being adapted into a live action feature is arguably their very best animated fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. The latest casting to be announced for the movie is the villain and push-up master Gaston. It’s being reported that Luke Evans, who was recently seen playing Dracula in the origins movie Dracula Untold, has entered into negotiations to play the ever narcissistic antagonist.
