Letters by Shawn Lee
Edited by Chris Ryall
Covers by Casey Maloney, Michael Gaydos & Xermanico
IDW Publishing
Release Date: September 19, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99 KISS #4 features the epic conclusion to the World Without Heroes story arc, and when IDW says epic they mean EPIC!!! It’s everything you want it to be and just a little bit more. To sum up, in this story arc, we basically have KISS barbarians, which in and of itself, is pretty freakin’ cool. What makes it even MORE awesome is that writer Tom Waltz does a fantastic job telling the story! In just a few issues, he’s given the four “civilian identities” a LOT of character for the reader to absorb. Not too much, though, that it draws awesome from the KISS warriors. We get a little more of the Destroyer and Elder, and more of She, but the meat of the story is KISS’ battle with an out of control dragon and trying to save their village and their world.

Cover Price: $3.99 KISS #3 is another AMAZING issue from the folks at IDW!!! The great thing about this book is that it’s a different title almost every month. You’re not sure where you’re going to end up when you pick up an issue. This issue is fantastic for a number of reasons, but most of all, because it’s a total 180 from the first two issues. Tom Waltz get handed the reins for this arc, and first off let me say, if you’re not reading his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title, you’re really missing out. That aside, his inaugural issue of KISS brings a totally different vibe than the first two issues, and that’s one of the great things. The other great things — KISS BARBARIANS!!!

Ghostbusters #7
Written by Erik Burnham
Art by Dan Schoening
Colors by Luis Antonio Delgado
PCOC Pages by Tristan Jones
Letters by Neil Uyetake
Covers by Dan Schoening, Nick Runge, and Casey Maloney
IDW Publishing
Release Date: March 21, 2012
Cover Price: $3.99 Ya know what? I’m gonna start with the END of Ghostbusters #7 for this review. The reason being is that I keep forgetting to give my second favorite Australian, Tristan Jones (sorry, T. Paul Hogan is THE MAN), his due. Dare I say, this comic would NOT be as awesome as it is without him. Just page through his supplemental PCOC (Paranormal Contracts Oversight Commission) pages and look at the sheer amount of work that goes into them. Not only are they entertaining, but whatever you want to know about the technical aspects of the Ghostbusters, it’s there, thanks to Tristan. Well done, sir.

Covers by Robert Atkins, Agustin Padilla, and Trevor Hutchison
IDW Publishing
Release Date: November 16th, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99 Writer Chuck Dixon got my letters. After a few disappointing issues, I am happy to report there is 100% more Snake Eyes ninja butt-kicking in Snake Eyes #7 than in the last three issues combined. THANK YOU, CHUCK!! Not only that, but this issue actually moves the Hunt for Cobra Commander story arc forward, as we’ve only got two more issues of G.I. Joe comics until we find out who’s going to be the new Cobra Commander!

Covers by Robert Atkins, Agustin Padilla

Release Date: October 19, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99 What I really like about Snake Eyes #6 is that it showed a different side of the Cobra Civil War storyline. There’s plenty of Joes and Cobras to go around, so it’s nice to get a little glimpse on what the coolest member of the GI Joe team is up to while the rest of the team is scrambling to hold their own and the forces of Cobra are launching all out war on the Joes. What I liked most about this issue was the constant action. In the whole book there’s maybe one whole page of “talking heads” and that’s it. And that’s the way a Snake Eyes comic should be.
