Letters by Neil Uyetake
Covers by Rik Alvarez, Casey Coller, and Trevor Hutchison
IDW Publishing
Release Date: December 7th, 2011

Transformers #31 was a very different change of pace issue. A nice retrospective on the Transformers legacy and at the same time, a nice story in its own right.

Mike Costa crafts a sentimental tale of reflection set millions of years in the future. Long gone are most of the Transformers that we know and love, except for a couple, and they spend the issue reminiscing about the days and battles gone by. This issue is a heartwarming, feel good tale of the history of the Autobots and Decepticons and their greatest battles.

WOW! Cobra #7 is really gonna put you on the edge of your seat! While we don’t find out who the new Cobra Commander is — that happens next month in G.I. Joe #8 — we do get some big time payoff. It’s getting down to the wire and business is picking up!

Mike Costa does a great job writing what basically ends up being Die Hard in the G.I. Joe headquarters. Secrets are revealed, the body count rises, and the person that I thought was gonna be Cobra Commander is….well, let’s just say it’s not going to be who I thought it was. Just an all around great issue for the penultimate chapter of this year-long storyline. After this issue, the dynamic of this whole book is going to change a full 180 degrees. I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Writer Chuck Dixon got my letters. After a few disappointing issues, I am happy to report there is 100% more Snake Eyes ninja butt-kicking in Snake Eyes #7 than in the last three issues combined. THANK YOU, CHUCK!! Not only that, but this issue actually moves the Hunt for Cobra Commander story arc forward, as we’ve only got two more issues of G.I. Joe comics until we find out who’s going to be the new Cobra Commander!
