Edward Gorey: Uneasy Elixirs
50 Curious Cocktails Inspired by the Works of Edward Gorey
Hardcover | Kindle Edition
By Virginia Miller
Publisher: Weldon Owen
Release date: October 21, 2025 Before Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Ransom Riggs’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, there was Edward Gorey. Born in 1925, Gorey first achieved success as a commercial designer, providing covers and art for over 500 books in his lifetime. Beginning in 1953, he began writing and illustrating his own works, including one of his best-known titles, 1963’s The Gashlycrumb Tinies, an illustrated alphabet book in which 26 children meet their untimely deaths. Both whimsical and macabre, Gorey’s books featured his pen-and-ink drawings in Victorian and Edwardian settings with morbid outcomes, earning him the title of the “Granddaddy of Goth.” Given Gorey’s penchant for blending elegance with the unsettling, it’s only fitting that his 100th birthday is celebrated with Uneasy Elixirs: 50 Curious Cocktails Inspired by the Works of Edward Gorey, created in conjunction with the Gorey estate.

Heroes’ Feast Flavors of the Multiverse: An Official D&D Cookbook
Heroes’ Feast D&D Cookbook Series
Hardcover | Spiral Bound | Kindle
By Kyle Newman, Jon Peterson, Michael Witwer, and Sam Witwer
Publisher: Ten Speed Press
Release Date: November 7, 2023 Good day and well met, friends! It boggles my mind to think that we are living in an age where Dungeons & Dragons has been so deeply ingrained into our culture that there are literal cookbooks to help create the perfect setting for any campaign. In my day (he says in his old man voice), we made do with Pizza Hut pepperoni pizzas and 7-Eleven Big Gulps to satisfy our sustenance needs whilst rolling our clickity clacking funny-shaped dice. Of course, teen-aged me was about as uncouth as you can imagine. A big change in my cuisine was the addition of taco-flavored Doritos. But the addition of books like Heroes’ Feast Flavors of the Multiverse: An Official D&D Cookbook has really raised the bar. In fact, one might even say it has taken the gameplay up a level. Get it? Up a level? I crack myself up, you know. But anyway, you are not here for my lame jokes, soon with the review!

| Fall 2021 Book Recommendations |
 |

Welcome first day of Fall 2021…. and with it come lots of new books! Last year, aka Pandemic Year 1, while self-isolating and staying indoors as much as possible, I threw myself into reading … print books, magazines, ebooks, and audiobooks. So while it was a stressful year on a whole (for all of us), I really enjoyed being able to prioritize reading. This year, what’s become Pandemic Year 2, I wanted to get outside a bit, but also continue to be on the safe side, which meant road-tripping and hiking the great outdoors. Therefore, I’ve leaned more towards audiobooks. Below are some titles — with accompanying links to the print, ebooks, and audiobooks editions — that I personally am looking forward to this Fall, presented here in order of release date, starting with those releasing in September 2021. After this main list, I’ve included some titles that came out earlier this year that you might have missed, as well as some themed Cookbooks, Crafts, and Guidebooks, along with an Audiobook Spotlight. And with the Fall comes, of course, Halloween and some spookier picks! Continue on to check out my Fall 2021 Book Recommendations…
