Ewok

We’ve all seen it before, whether it be on purpose or while flipping thorough channels: a daytime TV show has a holiday special where they present fun and helpful tips on decorative ideas, crafty party/hosting tricks, and unique food and snack recipes.

The Today Show held one of these special shows recently (which you can see much more of in our recent post) for Halloween, and they went all out, complete with a full Star Wars theme. Hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry dressed up as Han Solo and Darth Vader, and they even brought in a couple of little Ewoks to set the perfect mood! Unfortunately, this backfired on them a little; it didn’t take long before the Ewoks took over the show. It starts off light with a little playful talking, food throwing, and stealing the Halloween cocktails, but the more reactions they got, the more they feed off of it, and that prompts them to start dancing and moonwalking, fighting each other, and humping Mr. Roker’s leg. Yes, you read that right: an Ewok humps Al Roker’s leg.

Click on over to watch it for yourself. You won’t regret it.

Geeks of Doom's Exclusive Coverage of SDCC 2009There are any number of things to pick up at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, but the ones everyone looks for are the SDCC Exclusives.

So, here is a list of the top five things that will be surfacing on eBay in the next few hours.

1. AFX Transformers Battle Damage Jetfire Bust

One of the coolest characters from Transformers 2 returns in his original form from the cartoon. Not only is this a really cool looking bust, but it also comes with a variant head to give it it’s original Macross/Robotech look. This is too cool for words, but I guess only if you’re like me and are both a Transformers and Robotech fan.

2. Gentle Giant Studios Darth Vader Helmet – Pink Edition

For that special lady in your life who’s as big of a Star Wars nerd as you are, pick up this unique paint job of one of film’s greatest villains. Not only can you pick up the weirdest looking item at the Con, you can feel better about your SDCC trip, since $6.00 of every purchase (up to $10,000) will go towards funding breast cancer research.

10 Charismatic Bad Guys In Film

Ten Charismatic Bad Guys in FilmIn the new crime biopic Public Enemies, Johnny Depp stars as John Dillinger, the notorious bank robber who became Public Enemy #1 in 1930s in the United States in the beginning years of the J. Edgar Hoover-led FBI. During the Great Depression, the real-life Dillinger was a two-time escaped convict who not only pulled two dozen bank heists across the MidWest, but murdered several police officers and led a dangerous gang of unsavory characters.

But in the film, we see a different side to this criminal underworld figure, one of a graceful, charismatic man. Depp’s character is someone you can actually believe was able to woo his beautiful young girlfriend into total devotion and get a gang of ruthless thugs to give him respect as their leader.

It’s the combination of Dillinger’s supervillain-like abilities and Depp’s charming portrayal of this machine gun-toting crime lord that makes this on-screen character so alluring. But this role of the bad guy with likable charm isn’t a new one, though, there’s been plenty in cinematic history. Here’s a look at 10 Charismatic Bad Guys in Film.

Keyser Söze from The Usual Suspects

Charismatic Bad Guys In Film: Keyser SözeThe Usual Suspects brought us so much as a movie. It exposed Bryan Singer to the mainstream, collated a lot of stars in a great ensemble cast (including one of Stephen Baldwin’s few good performances)… but most of all it brought us Keyser Söze.

Söze’s involvement in the criminals’ dealings is never actually confirmed at any point in the movie — everything we hear or see about him is pure conjecture. And this is what makes the character such a great bad guy. Verbal Kint describes him perfectly in the following sentence:

“Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Söze. You never knew. That was his power.”
