Vice Starring Christian Bale As Dick Cheney

Christian Bale has done a few things to get into character. He lost enough weight to become nothing but skin and bone in The Machinist. He bulked up for The Dark Knight trilogy. Now he will do something that is opposite all of that and become almost unrecognizable. Gain weight to become Vice President Dick Cheney.

A new trailer for Adam McKay‘s Vice has just been released by Annapurna Pictures, and it gives us a glimpse at another possible awards contender. Check out the trailer below.

But now the master of creating characters like Gollum and Caesar takes a turn behind the camera for Mowgli. While the Serkis had previously done double-duty as actor and second-unit director for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, he’s making his feature directorial debut with Mowgli, a darker adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. A review of Deadpool 2 is an exercise in futility. You already know if you’re going to like it or not, the only real question is “how much?” You know you’ll laugh, again though, “how much?” I don’t want to spoil any of the jokes, quotes, or guest appearances, so what exactly do I write in this review??? I’ll try to answer the above mentioned questions in the most Deadpool way I can: staring at camera, winking… “A f*ck lot” and “Laughed till I peed blood.” Ok… maximum effort!

Deadpool 2 once again stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, the 4th wall-breaking, merc with the mouth who spends his days tracking and brutally slaying an international array of baddies and cracking jokes on Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds’ filmography, and really all superhero movie conventions. This time, however, after an early dose of reality, Wade realizes he may in fact have to accept certain conventions, amongst these, a team-up with the X-Men.

Atomic Blonde review header

Atomic Blonde
Director: David Leitch
Screenwriter: Kurt Johnstad
Cast: Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, Toby Jones
Distributor: Focus Features
Rated R | 115 Minutes
Release Date: July 28, 2017

Usually, when “atomic” is used as an adjective it means something that is propelled by atomic energy. Or if you prefer to use one of Urban Dictionary’s definitions, it’s a “devastating experience of epic proportions from which nothing is salvageable.” So when you have John Wick co-director David Leitch direct Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, an adaptation of the famed The Coldest City graphic novel, you’d expect something to leave an impact that is befitting its title. But Atomic Blonde is anything but atomic, at least from a narrative standpoint. It’s thin, has very few characters to care about, and casually shoehorns in 80s British pop songs. But if you are looking for a film with some great action and excellent framing, plus the occasional consumption of vodka, then Atomic Blonde is your kind of film.
