Shrek Forever After

It’s amazing how many trailers have been released this week, and there’s no signs of things slowing down any time soon. The first teaser trailer for Shrek Forever After is the latest to be shown to the world, and you can give it a little peek below.

The movie will be the final film made in the series, though there is the planned Puss in Boots spinoff is still on the table. Stars of previous movies like Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Justin Timberlake, Julie Andrews, and Eric Idle are all returning with newcomers to the cast including Kristin Schaal, Craig Robinson, Kathy Griffin, and Jon Hamm.

After Shrek the Third, many were turned off of the series. The first two movies were great fun, but there’s no denying that the third film was a complete flat tire. Shrek Forever After has already made one mistake in using terrible songs in their movies as you will hear here, but hopefully this fourth film will return us back to the magic of Shrek 2.

Continue on to the other side to watch the trailer for Shrek Forever After, and head to Apple for the HD options.

Shrek Forever After

Many people instantaneously went from loving Shrek to hating Shrek when Shrek the Third was released in 2007. And since we’ve already said “Shrek” more than anyone in the history of mankind has ever said in such a short amount of words, why stop now! Although said third film was pretty unanimously disliked compared to the original and wonderful first two Shrek films, DreamWorks has moved forward with the planned fourth film in the mega franchise — a movie that we now know will officially be called Shrek Forever After. The studio has given USA Today released a couple of new images from the film, as well as many new details as to what we can expect. Click the image to go large and click the link to go see another image.

One smart move that’s being made is that DreamWorks hasn’t been talking a lot about this project and releasing a ton of images. Instead of risking fans becoming turned off by two straight years of news and images and rumors, it appears that they’re trying to ease us into the return of the giant green ogre. They’re doing this by dropping this first batch of images and updates right before the first trailer is debuted in only a few weeks when Avatar is released. The movie itself will be released on May 21, 2010.

Pryor/Murphy

HitFix has confirmed that Eddie Murphy will play his idol and legendary comedian Richard Pryor in an upcoming drama/biopic Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? for Fox Searchlight.

The movie will be written and directed by Bill Condon. Condon has written the scripts for Best Picture winner Chicago and brilliant documentary The Devil and Daniel Webster. He’s also written and directed well-respected movies like Kinsey and Dreamgirls.

Richard Pryor died in 2005, but he was one of those guys that was so loved and so respected, that it still doesn’t even feel like he’s gone. It will be interesting to see how a movie about him looks. Apparently the movie will also be casting multiple female roles for the wives of Pryor, as well as the also legendary Red Foxx.

Brett Ratner Shelves ‘God of War’, Moves On To More Fitting ‘Trump Heist’

KratosThank the Gods! It’s being reported that horribly unfitting director Brett Ratner has decided to shelve his adaptation of the fantastic video game God of War.

This project was one of the seemingly infinite amount of projects that Ratner was lining up. More importantly, it was the worst match to what Brett Ratner has evolved into, making it a horrible thing for fans to see happening.

It turns out that Ratner will instead make another movie his next project. Not shocking at all, it’s not the Hugh Hefner biopic, it’s not Conan, and it’s not Beverly Hills Cop 4 — though it does include Eddie Murphy. The movie is called Trump Heist, and it pairs Murphy with Chris Tucker as a couple janitors who plan a heist on the Trump Towers. This, sounds much more up Ratner’s alley.

Shrek the Third Blu-ray DVDShrek the Third
Blu-Ray Edition
Directed by: Chris Miller
Starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonia Banderas, Justin Timberlake
Paramount Home Entertainment
Release date: September 23, 2008

Sometimes, trilogies take a great film and make a legendary series out of it. Sometimes… they take what was good about the original, regurgitate it over and over, and the end result is a garbled shell of what made the original entertaining. This latter accurately describes Shrek The Third.

The first Shrek was a phenomenal showcase of how far animation technology has come and a biting lampoon of Disney. The sequel managed to keep the same sharp wit and turned it attention towards the Hollywood subculture. The third time around, the writer went full-potty humor and turned their attention towards… fitting in in high school?

Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) is set to inherit the kingdom of Far, Far Away, but he doesn’t want the responsibility, especially after learning Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz) is pregnant. So he sails off in search of his young cousin Arthur (voiced by Justin Timberlake) to get him to take the throne.
