Faith No More

Faith No More is coming to North America this Spring, and is releasing another single! Back in September, Geeks Of Doom reported that the band had gone back into the studio to record an unnamed album for an April 2015 release and had unveiled their first single, “Motherfucker.”

Now comes news of a second single, “Superhero,” which will be released on 7″ vinyl and digitally, March 17th and March 31st, respectively. The upcoming album still isn’t named, but it is set to be in stores and in the internet ether in May.

“Superhero” is extra heavy with Mike Patton flavoring, and tempos speed up and slow down like our hearts will at that concert. See below for the band’s official statement, along with the North American tour dates.

Also, we’d like to give a HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to singer Mike Patton, who turns 46 today, January 27th!

Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman

The classic Ozzy Osbourne albums, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman, are scheduled to be reissued in May 2011. The two albums are cited by metalheads around the world as classics, and were indeed an important chapter in the evolution of metal during the 1980’s. They are the first two recordings by Ozzy following his years in Black Sabbath, and were key releases in him reasserting his position as the “Prince of Fucking Darkness!”

Lots of good new stuff has been included with these reissues, scheduled for release on May 31, 2011, and fans will have some different versions to choose from.

First up is the 30th Anniversary Edition of Blizzard of Ozz, including the entire original album recording that has been remastered by George Marino for the release. This CD will also have bonus tracks added, including a rare guitar solo from Randy Rhoads.

Second is the Diary of a Madman: Legacy Edition. This release will be a special 2-disc/double-album. The first disc will be entire original recording of the album, also remastered by Marino. The second disc is a live album, simply titled Ozzy Live, and is a recording from the Blizzard of Ozz tour. Third on the list is a single-disc version of Diary of a Madman.

Master of PuppetsThe official website for Gibson guitars has released what they perceive to be the top 50 metal songs of all time. Gibson.com’s writers and editors worked on compiling the list over several weeks, releasing 10 entries at a time, and recently released the top 10, which declared the number one metal song to be “Master of Puppets” by Metallica.

In some ways, the number one spot for Metallica is fitting, considering 2011 is the 25th anniversary of the release of their Master of Puppets album. Having said that though, metalheads are notorious for having fierce and strong opinions about what they consider to be their “top songs,” on top of their fierce and strong opinions about what bands are or are not even metal.
