You probably noticed that we’ve been posting Back To The Future-related articles all this week in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the film’s theatrical release. We officially wrapped up our Week of Geek yesterday — the actual release date — with a podcast episode devoted to Back To The Future, and here at GoD headquarters, I’ve spent the weekend introducing my 13-year-old nephew to the entire trilogy (he loved it!).

So, you can imagine that Back To The Future has been on my radar for quite some time now, and it’s moments like these that I really miss the ride at Universal Studios and just really wish there was more BTTF out there for me.

That’s why I fell totally in love with a new piece of artwork by Eric Tan made up to look like a 1950’s-style magazine ad for Hill Valley, California, the town in Back To The Future.

As Tan mentions in his blog post, there’s two items in the artwork that show that Marty McFly’s (Michael J. Fox’s character in the trilogy) influence — one is obvious, another you have to look a little harder for (see the image here at right and click for the full, large view).

Amazon has resurrected one of its amazing deals!

Right now, the Firefly Complete Series Blu-ray collection is on sale for $27.99! (that’s $62 off or 69% off the list price of $89.98).

That’s all 14 episodes of the Joss Whedon scifi space western television series Firefly, which was canceled much too prematurely by Fox back in 2002 before the first season was even completed. This Blu-ray edition includes the last three episodes that never aired on television.

Grab this deal while you can because there’s nothing on the listing page that specifies how long this sale is going on.

Back in April, Amazon had one of their great sales going on for all things related to Joss Whedon‘s Firefly. At the time (those deals are no longer active), the complete series on DVD was going for $20, the Blu-ray for $40, Serenity for $9 and $15 respectively. All great deals for fans of the science fiction/western series that was canceled all-too-soon.

Now Amazon is out to top that deal with a brand new Spotlight deal. If you do not own it already, you can acquire the Firefly Complete Series ON Blu-ray for twenty-eight freakin’ dollars. Yes, that’s $28 — $62 and 61.9% off the standard $89.98 price tag for all of your favorite stories and characters in that one glorious season in the very highest of quality visual home-viewing format possible!

How could one resist?! The only catch here is that it doesn’t specify how long the deal is running for.

When it comes to fanboys, no one is better suited for any job you can think of than Joss Whedon. The writer/creator/producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse has developed an army of followers who will love him to the end of time.

Marvel Studios has apparently realized this faithful following and how much Whedon is just a geek and fanboy himself. According to Deadline Hollywood, the maker of epic comic book movies is in final negotiations with Whedon to direct The Avengers, which is the film that will bring all of these massive characters and storylines into one film.

It’s time once again for Browncoats to rejoice, because right now Amazon has some great deals on DVDs and Blu-rays from the Firefly/Serenity universe.
