Futurama

It’s been about three and a half years now since we last saw a new episode of Futurama, and there’s no signs of Comedy Central or Netflix or anyone else bringing it back to life anytime soon.

But all is not lost. There are other ways to get your fix on the way. A new mobile game titled Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow has been announced, and it will feature the original voice cast and writers returning to help to make it the best experience we could hope for short of actually getting new episodes.

Live-Action Futurama

Back in July we saw a trailer for a live-action Futurama fan film titled Fan-O-Rama. The film was being made by Cinema Relics, and a lot of work was clearly being put into bringing the hit animated series to life.

Now the short has been released online, and can be enjoyed below. It runs a little under 18 minutes in length, with some bonus stuff after the credits, and includes lots of familiar Futurama goodness. Only now it’s real actors and animatronics instead of animated. As I said about the trailer, it’s hard to get past the voices not being the same if you’re a fan of the original. But the rest is phenomenal, especially the costumes, sets, puppets, makeup, props, etc. Oh, and they even brought in Rich Little to play Nixon’s head, so that alone is worth seeing. And you’ll no doubt spot multiple things you’ll wish Planet Express could deliver to your personal collection immediately. That Nibbler puppet? We needs it.

Live-Action Futurama

It’s already been almost three years now since the last new episode of Futurama aired—not counting the crossover with The Simpsons a couple of years back—and Netflix and other potential new homes still haven’t given the people what they want by reviving it once again.

And so, for now, we’re left watching what fans of the animated comedy come up with in tribute to the show, such as that 3D test shot. The latest is a trailer for a live-action Futurama fan film called Fan-O-Rama from Cinema Relics that will either impress you or maybe freak you out a bit. You can find out more about it and watch the video below.

‘Futurama’ Cosplay: Awesome (and Slightly Creepy) Real-Life Professor Farnsworth

Professor Farnsworth Futurama

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth from Futurama is not exactly the most popular character for all of those cosplayers out there to attend conventions as. But of all of those who have dressed up as the (sometimes a bit nutty) professor, this is likely the best you’ll find…with a little help from a talented makeup artist, that is.

Frank Ippolito is a makeup and effects artist best known as a contestant on the first and fifth seasons of Syfy’s reality competition Face Off, and he’s also worked on movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and The Chronicles of Riddick. He’s also a Futurama fan.

Ippolito joined up with the folks over at Tested to make the ultimate real-life version of Professor Farnsworth, and you can see what he came up with in the video below.

Futurama

While it’s not the full resurrection fans are hoping will one day happen again, and it’s not that 3D remake we saw recently, it has been announced that Futurama will indeed live again…for at least one day.

In something you’d think would have happened a long, long time ago, the characters of Futurama will appear in a crossover episode of The Simpsons this November 9th. Both series were created by Matt Groening, so it makes all the sense in the world to have the two animated worlds meet up; it just took a while.
