RED 2

Bruce Willis is back as retired government operative Frank Moses along with John Malkovich and Helen Mirren as his fellow aging but still lethal colleagues Marvin and Victoria, respectively, and Mary Louise Parker as his game civilian lady love Sarah in RED 2, the sequel to the 2010 action-comedy that was a box office smash around the world.

The movie won’t hit theater screens until this summer, but Summit Entertainment has nonetheless released the first teaser trailer. You can watch it here below.

Joining the action this time around are Oscar winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins and Byung-hun Lee of I Saw the Devil and the G.I. Joe movies. It looks like once again Frank’s peaceful retired existence is being interrupted by a ton of globe-trotting mayhem and dodging multiple assassination attempts. Thus the time has come for Mirren, also an Oscar honoree, to break out the heavy artillery and Malkovich (MALKOVICH!!) to indulge in some of that crowd-pleasing loony schtick that made his character such a hoot to watch in the original.

Hitchcock PosterHitchcock
Directed by Sacha Gervasi
Written by John J. McLaughlin
Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel
Fox Searchlight Pictures
Rated R | 98 Minutes
Release Date: December 7, 2012

Directed by Sacha Gervasi, Hitchcock is based on Stephen Rebello‘s non-fiction book, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.

This tongue-in-cheek film adaptation, written by John J. McLaughlin, centers on the relationship between director Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) during the making of Psycho.

Gervasi’s film opens as if it were an episode of the Hitchcock’s short-lived television series, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. On a Wisconsin farm, Hitchcock witnesses the death of a man at the hands of Ed Gein (Michael Wincott). After delivering his signature, “Good Evening,” Hitchcock introduces us to Gein, a real-life body snatcher and serial killer whose grisly work influenced the cinematic slashers like Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs, and, of course, Norman Bates from Psycho.

After this humorous, rather charming opening, the story of Psycho begins at the premiere of Hitchcock’s 1959 film, North By Northwest. While the director is no doubt enjoying the critical and financial success of his latest picture, he is struggling to find his next project – that is, until he stumbles across Robert Bloch’s latest novel, Psycho.

Hitchcock Header

Production for any film will have its fair share of problems on the set. The new Sacha Gervasi-directed drama Hitchcock will shed light on the kinds of problems that Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) experienced on and off the set of his greatest thriller Psycho.

Check out the first trailer for the film here below.

This latest biopic only covers the period of time in which Hitchcock was trying to get Psycho from development to production to full release. There are many conflicts that stand in Hitchcock’s way. People believe he is past his prime, there are production issues on set, and his romanced interest Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) believes she is being overshadowed by Hitchcock’s greatness. Scarlett Johansson will play Janet Leigh, while Danny Huston, Toni Collette, Jessica Biel, Michael Stuhlbarg, and James D’Arcy provide supporting roles.

RED (2010)

Released back in October 2010 the comic action-thriller RED was a pleasant surprise. Based on a DC Comics graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer and directed by German-born Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler’s Wife), RED brought together a killer cast (including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Richard Dreyfuss, Karl Urban, and Brian Cox), armed them with cutting quips and heavy artillery, and let them have a paycheck-cashing ball. It was a hoot to see a fun action flick that relied more on old school ass-kicking and witty dialogue rather than CGI fireballs. The movie was also a huge success for distributor Summit Entertainment, grossing over $200 million and making a sequel inevitable.

Arthur Blu-rayArthur

Directed by Jason Winer
Starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Greta Gerwig, Jennifer Garner, Geraldine James, Luis Guzmán
Warner Bros. Home Video
Release Date: July 15, 2011

Arthur, stars Russell Brand as the title character who’s a rich, alcoholic, heir to a business empire. Through his life, Arthur has squandered his fortune on space suits, a magnetic floating bed, telephone booth aquariums, movie memorabilia, specifically movie cars, and lots and lots of alcohol. After Arthur gets arrested for wrecking the Batmobile from Batman and Robin, Arthur’s mother (Geraldine James), the keeper of the family fortune, gives him an ultimatum: either straighten up and get his life together by marrying Susan Johnson (Jennifer Garner), or lose his inheritance. The only problem, Arthur has fallen in love Naomi (Greta Gerwig), a simple woman from Queens. Will Arthur give up everything for the woman he loves? Or will he sacrifice the one he loves for the almighty dollar? You can only find out by watching the movie.

Or by thinking logically if you’ve seen any movie that has this plot, which I’m sure you have since 80 percent of movies in existence all have this premise, according to Hunter Camp’s False Movie Facts. And that’s the main problem with the film.
