“In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming… about tasty food and drinks.” Or so you would think when you read The Necronomnomnom: Recipes and Rites From The Lore Of H. P. Lovecraft. Apparently, when the Great Old One awakens, he’ll have a hankering for some Cthus-Koos, aka Tuna Couscous. Thankfully this tome contains Cthulhu’s own secret recipe, which serves four, so it should be suitable for a lovely reunion.

If tuna’s not your thing, mix up some Tsathogguambalaja (seafood jambalaya), a favorite of the Old One, Tsathoggua (another sleepy dude). Or if any shoggoths stop by, serve them the Shogghoulash (beef and tomato goulash). For the vegetarians (like me), construct the Atlach-Nachos (nachos) without the layer of meat or summon up some Mi-Go To Go portobello sandwiches. For the young ones, the Lovecraft Macaroni and Cheese is sure to hit the spot. Then finish it all up by invoking The Ring That Should Not Be (Jell-O ring) and The Cake In Yellow (angel food cake) for dessert. Whoever (or whatever) your guests are, don’t forget the libations: Gin and Miskatonic for the adults, and At The Fountains Of Madness (gummy bears frozen in cherry syrup) for the kids.

Release Date: August 9, 2016

I was having a crisis of faith, folks. Specifically a loss of faith in the extended world of Pathfinder. For you see, I have read at least a half dozen of the Pathfinder Tales over the last few months and had become discouraged that I would find any that would please me. Luckily, I picked up Pathfinder Tales: Starspawn, for it has made everything okay again. Blending classic sword and sorcery with tales of the Old Ones, this novel more than makes up for some of the shortcomings I’ve seen in other books from this series. It is not without its flaws, but the tale itself is amazing and well written, two essential components in any fictional story.

Beyond Lovecraft art by Rob Moran

H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu stories have had a profound effect on a multitude of people for almost a century. They have inspired any number of books, games, and toys that continues on to this very day. As a matter of fact, I sit here with a Pop! figurine of Cthulhu on my desk inspiring me as I write this article! And having said that, I am proud to be able to present to you a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for Beyond Lovecraft, a wondrous graphic novel that stays true to the original tales by taking the reader to some unpredictable and desolate places via sequential art. Four stories, all tied together with a single theme. What more could you ask for, right?

Well, how about Rob Moran providing all the art? That’s all it took to get me hooked. Well, that and he contacted me personally to let me know about it. I’ve been a fan for years, as his artwork is impeccable. He has a certain noir, macabre twist to much of his work that gives it far more depth than most artists can muster on their best days. He’s teamed up with writer Jasper Bark to create this amazing 96-page graphic novel for us.
