The moment that every fan of Netflix’s Marvel shows has been dreading has finally arrived. Netflix has officially axed Marvel’s The Punisher and Jessica Jones television series.

The news is something we all should have seen coming considering the wave of cancellations, like Marvel’s Iron First, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, along with Disney’s launch of Disney+ later this year.

The wave of Marvel shows being canceled by Netflix was alarming but not surprising, especially since Disney is launching their own streaming service, Disney+, in 2019.

Most believed that Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and presumably The Punisher and Jessica Jones would just migrate over to their new home. Which makes sense. They would join the Scarlet Witch, Loki, Winter Soldier, and Falcon shows that are being launched. However, there is a clause that prevents these shows from appearing on Disney+ until 2020. Disney is on the verge of launching their streaming service, Disney Play, in 2019. Most if not all of Disney owned IPs like Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm will move from Netflix to Disney Play.

I say most because Netflix’s Marvel shows are going to stay on Netflix, despite some signs it could move like the cancellation of Iron Fist. More on the story below.

That headline is no joke. Season 1 of Netflix and Marvel’s Iron Fist was a huge disappointment, to say the least. However, we knew that Finn Jones would be playing the character in the long run. And The Defenders making the story about him did not help the character’s cause. But don’t expect that awful streak to continue.

Netflix and Marvel revealed their first trailer for Iron Fist season 2 over at San Diego Comic-Con last night, and just watching it, that one trailer looks like an improvement over the first season. We are just hours away from the premiere of Netflix’s The Defenders, the Marvel superhero ensemble of the streaming service. In the four years since the collaboration started, we’ve seen Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) get their own series.

And while we’ve known that this moment was going to arrive, the evil force that will bring our heroes together still remains a mystery.
